Re: Eliaquim Mangala

He seems to of been hanging around with Sagna all WC, I'd be surprised if they didn't discuss City. It's pretty much still a 50/50 guess at this point, but I reckon it'll happen

City waiting on Mangala as Rodwell exit nears

Frenchman has also been linked with a move to Chelsea, but the Blues are happy to stick it out before moving onto other targets.

City are still waiting to hear Eliaquim Mangala’s intentions, but if he agrees to come to Manchester, a deal with Porto should quickly follow.

And that would give City the 22 players they need for the accepted wisdom that a top club, pursuing European and domestic honours, needs two for every position.

Given that as a template, City’s transfer dealings this summer become much clearer.

The arrival of Bacary Sagna to vie with Pablo Zabaleta makes Micah Richards surplus to requirements, with Newcastle the latest club linked with the right-back.

And Fernando’s £12m signing means Jack Rodwell’s days appear numbered, with Fernandinho, Yaya Toure and Javi Garcia already in place – and that also gives the lie to talk that the much-improved Garcia will be allowed to go.
Rodwell is being linked with a move to Sunderland, while Everton are also interested in taking him back – although that deal could cost the Blues up to £2m as the Toffees would drop their interest in Gareth Barry.

Barry is a free agent, but under the terms of his Goodison loan deal last season City would get between £1m and £2m if Barry signed for Everton on a permanent basis, depending on the terms of the deal.

Persistent talk that Alvaro Negredo wants to leave has left City unmoved, and the kind of money they would want for the Beast makes Atletico Madrid’s interest unworkable.

Negredo would only be allowed to go, in any case, if the Blues had a replacement lined up, and there are no strikers on their transfer horizon.

The other constraint, ignored by the rumour-mongers, is that they are restricted to a £49m transfer cap this summer under the Financial Fair Play rules, and the purchase of Fernando, a goalkeeper and a centre-half would just about reach that sum.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

Tough one to call but we have the players that can help him settle to life in England.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

On the one hand, with us having reportedly agreed personal terms with Benatia he seems more than a back up so to speak.

Whereas, the club must have been given some kind of encouragement from Mangala and his camp to keep the interest up this long.

He's had a fair amount of time to weigh up his options so shit or get off the pot, kid.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

I hope he says no so we can just end this stupid saga. He doesn't want to come and if he does he will be dragging his heels, no doubt moan about the weather and be off the next summer.

There were quite a few reports last week from various sources stating we have either agreed a deal or agreed personal terms regarding Benatia.

I am not convinced we are going after Mangala anymore.

I do think we will find out who will be our choice this week though, we will be heading to The States in the next ten days/ two weeks I think and I would imagine Pellegrini would want all transfer business to be done and dusted in the next week or two.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

I REALLY hope that we pick benatia as it seems that mangala isn't gonna be world class, but I trust txiki, pellegrini, and our scouts, so if they pick mangala then mangala must have a special something that I can't see. The only thing that worries me is that he won't want to go to man city, but if a club like barca or Real Madrid come knocking on the door for benatia IF we choose him will he not train with us either? Or is all of this talk of being mad at roma or hating man city just pointless media speculation. Despite this I'm sure that either would put us on another level.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

Seems that Chelsea are going to send Zouma out on loan (Guardian). They've already sent Kalas out on loan and Luiz has gone, so judging by that they must be confident of bringing in an experienced central defender as they only have Cahill and the OAPs Ivanovic & Terry.

I'm not sure who is Mangala's agent, but if it's Mendes then it's likely he will go to Chelsea as they have an established relationship.
