Re: Eliaquim Mangala

If Txiki thinks he's worth the price tag then we have no reason to doubt him.

See: Fernandinho

EXCLUSIVE: Manchester City closing in on £20million-rated Porto defender Mangala

I will be astonished if Porto sell for that after all the talk of 40m being branded about, in fact I think 40m euros is his buyout, or is it pounds?

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

His season has really turned around with the change of coach. Porto were all over the place untill Castro took over, now they are defending as a team and Fernando is bossing games again, with the defence being in a much better shape. I think he'd thrive in our system, he's just struggled a bit earlier this year due to a disorganised manager and a revolving door of partners. Stick him next to Vinny in our system and I think he'd quickly look like a world beater

I usually agree with you, but I am not sure this time.

Mangala has pace and physical strength but it seems his decision making and skills are below average.

He's a bit rash, but he usually reads the game pretty well imo. He just has a habit of trying to win things he can't win (a bit like MDM) or getting dragged out of position when trying to cover for the mistakes of others. If he played with a partner he could trust and settled down a bit, I think he has it all. For a defender he is very young, so you'd expect him to make the odd poor decision, it's when they're still doing it at MDM's age that you start to worry!

The guys a beast scored a cracker tonight sign him up.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

We have to get this guy at all costs.

Young, bags of talent, perfect left sided compliment to Kompany and can learn everything, physically and athleticallyoutstanding, scores A LOT of goals..

Well easily have the best CB pairing next season, hands down.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

Area of immense need. Fantastic player. Probably would fit in perfectly with Pellers' system and VK as a partner.

Also keep in mind that although he is technically French by birth, he has spent almost all his life in Belgium. Presumably Komps as a partner/mentor might fit well on this basis too.

Also probably the best guy that will be available in the summer. Make the lad priority #1.

I'd go after Lovren every day of the week if we can't get Mangala. Amazing how much Lovren has come on in just one year.
