Empty seats.. worsening trend?

The penny has only just dropped.

Just been on the OS and the Sunderland match still isn't sold out. There's only a few seats left in a few blocks. Most blocks are sold out. But there still isn't a link to Viagogo and the tickets they've bought off City. The link must only kick in when the OS states match sold out.

I've just gone on the Viagogo site and they still have *431* seats for sale over *20 pages*. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.viagogo.co.uk/mcfc/Sports-Tickets/Football/Barclays-Premier-League/Manchester-City-Tickets/E-670759" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.viagogo.co.uk/mcfc/Sports-Ti ... s/E-670759</a>

So before no shows(not having a go at them) tomorrow, there will be over 400 empty seats which Viagogo have either bought off City, or from fans who are trying to sell their seats via viagogo.

That's potty. Explains why there are so many empty seats. Once again, I assume the club isn't arsed about empty seats as they've got their money off the fans and Viagogo already for those seats. Only the fans and viagogo will lose out.

I honestly don't know what Viagogo are getting out of this sponsorship deal with City. Are they actually making any serious money over the season?
Once again City's Ticket Office manage to set the maximum possible price and manage to sell the game out. From the bean counters point of view they get it right nearly every time.

Having tried to buy and shift tickets myself don't have a problem paying a small premium to save the hassle of handing over a ticket and have it loaded onto a membership card .don't have any problem people asking £100+ good luck to em if they think they are going to sell.but what I carnt get my head round is once the games sold out why you can't price your ticket at £5 if you want and stand a chance of shifting it

Vianogo won't be making much out of this deal. They don't let you sell for a fiver or a tenner bacause in their commercial experience they know sellers want at least face value. The guy who sits next to me was chuffed to get £75 off Vianogo for the West game when we won the league. (He was going to a wedding).

IMHO, it shouldn't be the Club's priority to help re-sell tickets from people who have got a season card. However it would be preferable, certainly.
The fact that there are 400 or so tickets on Vianogo for tomorrow indicates that buyers are becoming more selective. Why pay top dollar to see Sunderland when you can see up play the Rags or Chelsea for a few quid more. If sellers / Vianogo users get left with tickets then so be it! Maybe some of these people shouldn't renew their season tickets and give people a chance of a seasoson card who can go more often!

Okay then. My mate (a Rotherham United fan) and his partner (a City fan) had purchased tickets in the Colin Bell Level One for the Wednesday game. This morning they have received notice that the tickets have been cancelled. Obviously the assumption was as he has a South Yorkshire post code and Sheffield Wednesday have 'sold out' the South Stand then MCFC are concerned that Wednesday fans are trying to get tickets in the home sections. However they have previous purchasing history having attended Champions League games and ordering items from the website and surely City must have other fans with South Yorkshire postal codes?

Surely he'll have ticket history from that address? If not, you can see why they might think it a little funny that we draw Sheff Weds with away allocation sold out and Yorkshire post codes start buying tickets.

Okay, read again. I'd already mentioned he had ticket history from his address via purchasing Champions League Tickets and ordering items form the club shop online.

Still not really the point though is it? And would you want to try and ring through to City ticket office at this time of the year. At the end of the day two tickets have been returned because somebody hasn't down the job properly and looked into purchasing history.

Not sure I agree with you about people wanting face if their was 400 up for sale I would be happy to take £20.
Each time we play Everton I buy a ticket off stubhub and they let the seller set the price last year I paid £35 the year before £20 for 2
If stubhub are happy with that then why not viagogo .I must admit the ticket loading onto your membership card is worth a few extra £s

Chelsea and others sacked off ViaNoGo to build an in-house system and so should we. A streamlined, easy-to-use interface to buy and sell seats for a match would be great and would be at least one way of decreasing the empty seat phenomenon. The club surely would not lose much commercial income from sacking off these legalised touts.

Facing missing my first home game in years tomorrow because of illness (50/50 at the moment) but with no time to sort anything out and refusing to use ViaNoGo, my seat may be one of those empty if I can't dope myself up enough to make it.
