For me, this (or someone similar) would be my first priority in this window. even though Jesus is out, with Sergio & Sterling able to play centrally we should just be ok. Lose Fernandiho & that has a huge effect on us a team.

IMO he is nowhere near good enough for us at the moment. We need upgrades or equivalent. I don’t think we will be in for him unless it’s just as a back up for Ferna.

He's good enough for us, for Germany playing in a decent system with better players he looks class. he'd do a great job for us as cover for dinho and possibly his long term successor. definitely worth a punt on a free

Would take up Yaya's squad place next year playing cup and injury cover with a view to taking over from Fern in 2019.

I'd be happy with him taking over Yayas place tomorrow. That guy is dead weight personified. Not sure Can is good enough to replace Fern for us though.

I've never really looked closely at Can until a Dipper at work mentioned him. I never realised he was only 23 & he's actually a very good footballer.

He can play either CDM or CB with ease & his versatility would certainly provide us with options. I saw him play for Germany a couple of times & he was superb.

Surely Can on a free should have been worth the punt?

The 30mil we were desperate to spunk on JFE would pay this lads wages for 3or4 years. I’d get him 100%.

According to Macca, reliable Dipper ITK, he is not good enough for Klopp, so can't see why he should be good enough for us, even if Pep develops players to much higher levels.

Another good reason.

It seems weird we're standing by & passing up this opportunity. However I trust in Pep's judgement above my own & who knows, he could have had a cast iron informal agreement already sewn up with Juve, so pursuing him wasn't worth the bother.

Player who's refusing to sign a new contract at Liverpool is suddenly "not good enough" for Klopp? The usual dipper coping strategies there me thinks.

Or maybe the player does indeed have his heart set on Juve, who have been chasing him for a while?

I have no doubt we would have been interested in signing him on a free, but that doesn't automatically mean we can get the player. He has a greater chance of starting in Juve, whereas he'd very much be used as a rotation/utility option here.

Finding it hard these days to accept they aren't quite as bigger pull as they used to be. Suarez, Sterling, Can and Coutinho all moved, or moving on to better things.

I honestly think Can could have rotated between CDM & CB, so would have seen plenty of football. If he does indeed end up at Juve, they'll have themselves an excellent, young, international class CDM/CB for free.

It's good business.
