End of Season Party vs Arsenal?!

You're right, given our chances of actually winning the CL are quite slim.

But I'm sure it'd look better for Manuel's CV to have taken us to our first CL final, and finish 5th, than to finish 4th and go out in the semis.

The club's interests and Manuel's don't perfectly align at the moment and he's looking after himself now, IMO. It's the same reason he's been playing inept shite like Bony ahead of a stunning young talent like Kelechi almost all season, in spite of the fact that the former has no future at the club while the latter does.

Just a couple of the reasons I won't be joining in any farewell 'party' against Arsenal.
Think opportunities lost and general disappointment encapsulates my overall feeling

Just about sums it up for me. And anywhere else, as soon as a manager starts to make decisions based on his own best interests rather than the interest of the business/team/group as a whole, you have to take hard decisions immediately. He is not interested where we end up in the league because that will have absolutely no impact on his CV, particularly if he gets us to the final.

Well it's up to the club to make sure the club's interests are looked after. The CEO and DoF should be insisting we play our best team for every game, as far as possible. Their abrogation of their duties has been shameful.

I agree, but then you're risking undermining the manager's position to be fair.

That said, I'm not too enamoured by Txiki and besides securing Pep, via a personal relationship rather than some great professional aptitude as a DoF, I think he's largely been a failure in his three and a half years here so far.

When you look at the squad out there today for example, the lack of quality and desire, and the wider age of it, it's just piss poor. And it's ultimately his responsibility, while the piss poor set up and motivation of them is down to Manuel.

What's more, the appointment of Manuel in the first place is Txiki's responsibility. Not least forgetting the manner in which he did it, openly dining in public with Pellegrini in Spain, in the weeks building up to a cup final - only for it to break on the day of the game.

We really haven't made the most of where we were at in 2013 to where we are now. When Pep comes in he'll have a more difficult job on his hands than he should do, and that's down to these two as far as I'm concerned.

Whilst he's manager he has full say on team selection, as we just saw. He knows they can't sack right now.

I had no problem rotating the team at Southampton.

The problem is that with a few exceptions the players that played had little motivation or interest. I don't see how that's got anything to do with club executives. They may or may not be doing a good job in their own spheres but player selection and motivation is purely the coach's job.

It's a difficult job as a manager to lead players when everyone knows you have been sacked. I'm looking for excuse and explanations but I am not looking forward to the Arsenal game. They will be up for it, and I can't see us winning, and we have to win to get 4th.

The only good thing is that this season comes to an end, Pellegrini will be gone and we can start again.

Was willing to forgive and forget most of the abhorrent decision this years because we're in the CL semi with a chance to go through but the team sent out yesterday was another disaster waiting to happen.

Whilst I was sat berating Delph for his ineptitude in that game you all must have felt my jaw hit the floor when MDM came on.

Whereas I was dead set on attending until yesterday, Wednesday's result will play a big part in whether I can be arsed to make the 450mile round trip to clap him off my pitch for the last time.

You can fuck off mate. Pellegrini deserves fuck all from the fans. He's been well paid and has wasted the riches at his disposal in terms of resources. If you think differently then you haven't watched his influence during his tenure. It was summed up by our spineless performance today. A fucking farewell party? If we lose to arsenal we can kiss top 4 goodbye and that is abject failure

Apologies, I've either quoted the wrong post or got confused in my drunkiness.

It appears I'm in full agreement with you, as you say, he deserves fuck all.

Haha no worries. Thought I'd have calmed down by now but still fuming.

If he isn't clapped away against arsenal then we should all be fucking ashamed.

Complete unforgiving act of cowardness is not giving the man even the most basic of decency, but I know if you're already planning to be silent like a stubborn child throwing a pathetic temper tantrum then a post on an internet forum isn't going to change your mind.
