Well we are mostly on the same page after all then. I said myself that I don't think there was enough for a pen there, it's a contact sport still. I would have preferred England to have scored in open play, which I think was coming at the rate the Denmark players were running out of legs and the substitutions we had left. I can understand the frustration on that aspect but to bash Sterling for it, I'm not on board with that. I don't even think he could have stayed on his feet if he wanted to personally(only Sterling knows) but even if he was just knocked off balance and couldn't continue running for the ball, the players are told to go to ground in that situation these days. Should a player need to be knocked off his feet completely, for a foul to be given? Maybe that's what needs looking at first. In my view, the Denmark player wasn't attempting to go for the ball, just getting in Sterling's way long enough for the ball to get away from him because he knew he had the beating of him in a sprint.England deserve to be in the final and have played some really good football so to say it’s luck is bollox but I would say this tournament set up playing all over Europe has definitely benefited certain countries such as England Italy and even Denmark who played all three of there games at home but others such as Wales and Belgium got shafted by having to play all over Europe which you must admit wasn’t fair and if should have been played in one country . As for raheem sterling I think he has been the best player in the euros .
Kane or Grealish would be getting praise for it regardless IMO. Southgate could have pushed for a third goal to remove any questions about the penalty too.
