England v Germany | Nations League | Monday 26th September, 19:45

No mate,Southgate is making a mess of a top squad of players, who should have won something by now,and is actually getting worse.

‘Should have won something by now’

Come on that is bollox, we’ve already said how tournament football there is no guarantees, like City in the Champions League. There’s no divine right for any club or nation to win a competition

It’s so so difficult and there is world class teams out there that our young lads are up against , it’s a tough gig made more tough by a nation of moaners on the manager and players back constantly

A semi and a final was a tremendous achievement and it was great for the nation - Southgate gave English football a massive lift, we had the youngest squad at the last WC which is forgotten

We have a good chance this WC but no way would I say we ‘should’ be winning the tournament- I’ll just support and hope we do.

Would rather our players not be involved in this from a city perspective. Grealish through his own stupidity and thankfully walker are out but we've still got 2 key players involved. Still, I actually hope we get smacked tonight just because of the very slim chance the mounting pressure may get waistcoat out before the world cup.
Actually quite impressive that a City fan can manage to be intensely hateful to one of our own players on a thread for a game he's not even playing in. Takes real commitment. Do you even know what Grealish got the yellow card for last game to label him stupid for doing so?

Where would you rank a team that’s been in a semi and a final in the last two major tournaments ?

Let’s not forget you watch ZERO football of any other nation and just glued to the doom and gloom England match-day forum when we do play so you’re going to be negatively biased against your own country before we even kick a ball

We’ve shown how far we can go in major tournaments, we have a class bunch of young lads and if Southgate can repeat the cohesion and togetherness he did last tournaments then we’ll go far - but let’s also not forget , it’s a knockout competition and even the best clubs (like City in the Champions League) don’t win it, takes luck aswell as everything else

bring it on I say

I’d agree but we’ve also been pretty fortunate when it comes to the teams we have played in the last two tournaments. Any decent side would’ve snapped your hands off if you offered them the routes we got.

Obviously you can only beat who is in front of you, so I’ll always give credit for that but the reality is that we haven’t won anything and come up short when we finally met teams with good players and a manager with tactical nouse that had the ability to change things and the players to do it. That’s when Southgate’s limitations got exposed because he couldn’t react the same.

Plus it seems our standards have been slipping, and that often happens in the end with lesser managers. You see it in club football all the time with clubs who have a manager who are not up to the required standard, the standards keep lowering and they can’t turn it around. That’s what’s starting to happen here but at international level.

He did the same with Boro, took them uefa cup finalists and a team that had been in the Premier League for 10 years down to the championship, they went into absolute free fall under Southgate after a bit because he just wasn’t good enough to keep the standards needed at that level. And there he had squads that shouldn’t be in relegation battles at the time. He was just clueless.

I hope I’m wrong but I think he is starting to get found out and our 2 good tournaments flattered us in terms of how good we actually are.

Eery time Mark posts on an England thread a lickle cute baby kitten is drowned. Have some self respect man...

I know majority of fans here will not really care if our players go into WC or start whatsoever. However it is very important for the club image to make sure some of our players have some star moment in England WC journey. I highly doubt if England can win it but it is very likely to make to quarter final or semi final.

It starts to go into the wrong direction now. Walker not on his best form. KP and Stones maybe not make it. They should be the most secured ones in the starting XI and things really in doubt now. Grealish got that LW spot a year ago in WCQs but his injury set things back and he never picked up the same form again. Foden's starting place seriously threatened - if not already taken- by Saka.
