But it's not just Germany, the whole of Europe should put the past to rest and move forwards as Europeans, IMO. Holding grudges does not ultimately benefit the Continent of Europe. It's why I also cannot stand people who hold grudges against English people for the past.

Fair play for the honest answer mate. I have and lived in the Ruhrgebiet and saw some horribly uneuropean behavior towards both the Dutch and others. If you're using the Wars as a reason to not wanting Germany to win, its worth noting that the Spanish were brutal bastards in the America's, they just butchered the natives. The population of Mexico before the conquistadors arrived was around 25 million, within 70 years the population was reduced to a figure around 1 million. So you should scrub Spain off.
