England v Italy

I bet the sun still give shrek a 7 or 8 out of 10. Let's face it, they even put him in team of the weekend when the twat didn't even play.
I wouldn't mind if we had a young squad that went into this with little expectation and used it as a learning curve. Instead, we're fed false hope by being told how good shrek, Gerrard etc are. They're not. Time and again in international tournaments they get shown up for what they are...........average at best.
Apart from one cross, shrek was a liability and actually stifled our (very infrequent and limited) attacks.
It won't get addressed by either the press or by the manager, who reminds me of Freddie parrot face Davis without the integrity.

I'd like to see how Aguero or Dzeko would do stuck out wide

The media are dressing up Sterling's performance as the positive, but I thought that was a mistake by Hodgson. You want pace on the shoulder of the last man, not in front of a massed defence where the 2nd or 3rd man can stop the run.

Clear as day that we had a problem on the left hand side, and selecting an off colour Rooney to play there was madness. Milner would have closed down that avenue, and given Baines the confidence to get forward. Wellbeck doesn't have the quality to be a world cup footballer and neither does Henderson. Barkley and Wilshire would have been better bets. I don't think Hodgson has the balls to make the necessary changes.

Can't say Rooney did nothing in all fairness. His ball to Sturridge for the opener was excellent. Granted that's all he did though. Plus he missed a sitter.

What was strange was that even in the really bad times, the one thing England were good at and always looked dangerous from was set pieces. Last night the delivery was universally bad. Corners and free kicks were wasted time and again.

It was a ball you would expect any professional footballer to make in my opinion.

For once I will kind of defend him being a useless **** in so much as he should never have been on the pitch out of position as he offered the side nothing other then making that left flank a paradise for the Italians.

Disgrace from Roy and his answer to the problem? Switch him and Wellbeck and hey fucking presto, they get the winner from down the same flank with the same issue.

You're missing the point. Aguero and Dzeko are not switched out wide because they contribute as strikers. Rooney doesn't so he's been switched to accommodate his fat arse, not to compliment the team.

Who else celebrated when sterling hit the side netting! The pub I was in went mental with beers flying everywhere. We all felt like right twats.

yep and there in lies the massive problem in this country, my lad is 8 and is playing for his local team - the coaching is not great is very basic. Other teams met at tournaments are totally disgusting shouting and berating kids for making a mistake,

I have decided to take my lad to a local futsal team that is being recognised in the north west to improve him overall.

The grass roots level in our country is fucking shocking and has not moved any further onwards since I was kid back in 1985
I see it week in week out when I Referee and it hurts in a way because I am in refereeing because I love football and I am seeing kids who have alot of potential who are being fucked over by poor coaching and disgusting attitudes coming from the sidelines . And in a way thats where I see our new academy being crucial for the developement for the national side. But its only us who are investing so much and thats wrong. But there's no great quantities of quality coaches in grassroots which is what yo see in Europe

Exactly and our club actually gets punished by UEFA for providing a better coaching experience for kid, Youths, Women and senior players

I know lads aged 7 who have been to Liverpool academy and have been rejected just because they did not run fast enough in a speed test - so that means Pirlo would have been fucked if he was English - it is a fucking joke

We are also to hung up on the premier league being the best - we are the only major nation that has all its players based in the home league.

a hell of a lot needs to be sorted before it changes
i played with a spaniard in my college team (and with nando silva incidentally but thats another story) and i remember him telling me how at grass roots level more or less all the pitches they play on are perfect and its all alot more organised. here in england, unfortunately, its whoever shouts the loudest or runs the fastest gets the chance

Yeh we did the same! Took about 30 seconds to realise it hadn't gone in.
