The clowns would rather unbalance the team by shoehorning their buzz players into the starting XI than by letting Southgate get on with the business of producing a side capable of going through a tournament with a system that has half a chance of reaching the latter stages. It's become a Rashford v Sterling competition for some reason, they're not even the same type of player.

The press in this country are absolutely vile. Why must we have a whipping boy before every tournament - what does it achieve? We a nation of wingers who despise success and young upstarts. Rashford doesn't get the same treatment because he is part of 'old money' and brought up the United way. It says a lot about the country that this behaviour still continues well into the new millennium and yet we sit, apathetically tapping away, without actually taking action, and I am as guilty as any.
In a way I can see why the top managers don't play a lot of home grown youngsters as they can become a bit of a curse - Everybody over-exaggerates their ability and bays for them in the first team, thus taking the place of an expensive but far better player to the detriment of the team.Maybe im incredibly blinkered because hes a united player but how was rashford man of the katch yesterday? First of all it was a great goal from him, take nothing away from him for that but almost everytime he got the ball he gave it away or made the wrong decision. Sure, it's exciting to see him try a few tricks and run at people but you have to actually have an end product from that and he had nothing, even when his tricks worked he would turn back and try and do the player again. I watched that game and saw exactly why Mourinho seemingly doesn't fancy him. Decent wildcard option to throw on last 10 minutes if we need a goal but should never be starting a game nevermind starting ahead of Sterling.

Or vice versa? You have just to a tee described every performance from sterling in an England shirt but because rashford plays for United you can see it and say it. May I ask in an England shirt what sterling brings to the table to make him a guaranteed starter ahead of rashford?
