Not sure I agree with this. Our recruitment in CM has been shambolic for a few years and has left us with three players in that role as of today: Rodri, Kovacic, Nico G. Two of those are into their final year and the other purportedly wants to leave due to game time (again).

We need to prepare for all eventualities. I think Nico G will probably go this summer, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rodri and Kova gone next summer (I hope Rodri extends though). This gives us a year to get a couple of players bedded in, then we possibly only need a new CDM next summer.

Remember there was a time we had Rodri, Fernandinho, Gundo and Bernardo in the same squad, so we aren’t exactly blessed with depth right now.
