Can you please consider that, as a senior and I think respected poster (I like a lot of your input and I'm sure I've given you a few likes), your needlessly negative input in this thread only encourages the dinks to add their bit with nobs on?

I've never been a big fan of the lad, but the way some people have reacted to him (a 19yo boy, who's spent years in a foreign country and who wants to return home when he's fulfilled all he ever promised to us) is ridiculous. It makes sections of this thread read like they've been lifted from RAWK

IMO, if those who have difficulty letting go must to lash out, then they should lash out at our management or even have a laugh and take the piss out of Barca, but there's no excuse for taking it out on the lad. It's not nice and it doesn't achieve anything. He didn't ever say that he'd sign up to a further contract and he didn't ever select himself for the team did he, so what's the beef with him?

I'm hostile toward the whole concept of him playing at all in serious games, him being imo total shite as a defender & Pep pissing about with the team to involve him. So are plenty of others.

I think his lack of everything, has ruined the confidence of the team & Pep including him cost us a place in the CL Semi & cost us humiliation v Leicester.

I've watched scores of more deserving young players ignored by City managers & I don't like this nonentity getting the chances they didn't.

People keep appearing in this thread, disrespecting the opinions & the right of City fans to have not rated this player prior to him wanting to leave. We all have to have loved him & are now jilted & therefore are insincere. It's bullshit.

Kind of an off-topic question.

Barca is very interested in Garcia, we know that and are being pretty cheap in coming up with the adequate fee for our liking. If reports are true they want to include a player as a makeshift.

My question is that is, to those that have seen him play, is Junior Firpo really as shite as Barca supporters have made him to be? I remember him being highly sought out at Betis.

Would a cash plus Firpo offer be something City would consider? Or is Firpo just wank and not someone that City should go after.

I only mention Firpo because he's out of favor at Barca, was someone with high end potential not too long ago and since LB could be a worry position for us. Digne was considered surplus at Barca as well but is now one of the better fullbacks in the Premier League.

He is clearly not shite. He is a good young defender with excellent positional sense and good passing, if not the greatest athleticism. He is developing and will go onto a decent career, probably not with us. As far as I can tell, he does not deserve the 'abuse' he is getting: he has played well sometimes and not so well sometimes, as you would expect of a young player.
He is chosen to play by one of the greatest managers the world has seen. He has been chosen to play, mostly, ahead of Stones, Otamendi and Taylor Harwood Bellis, the first two of whom face similar harsh words on here, the latter who is 17. It is generally accepted that Fernandinho is better as a CDM than as a CB.
What is clear is that the kindness of the past has generally gone since his interest in moving back to Barcelona was declared. That's no surprise but let's see it for what it is rather than dress it up as a description of him as a poor player, which he isn't.

The only regret is we will never see him given a chance as a defensive midfielder as undoubtedly he is a talented footballer, but not neccessarily with the athleticism to play centre half for a team defending as a high line.

I confess I haven’t read back so if Neville Kneville says he hasn’t said anything personal I believe him. You are arguing that a likeable, mature, unassuming 19 year old who grew up in Barcelona, became Part of the Barcelona youth team, moved to a foreign country of his own volition and plied his trade at a new club (successfully some might argue) is a vulnerable 19 year old who could be scarred for life by some negative online comments about a situation HE created? Come on!

Firstly I’ve witnessed genuine online trolling that resulted suicide attempts. This isn’t that. Nothing like it.

I genuinely feel for Caroline Flack and her friends and family. Countless other people, many of who we aren’t aware of that suffer online or otherwise abuse (personal abuse due to their appearance etc, Jason Lee, Lee Chadwick, hell even Steve Bruce). But at the end of the day, they live in the public domain. I wouldn’t like it at all, but that’s why I wouldn’t do anything in the public eye, (also I’m completely talentless so it’s not an issue).

I would suggest Eric Garcia is a 19 year old MAN! A man who has had lots of opportunities and had experiences way in excess of the vast majority of other men of a similar age. I get he wants to return home to Barcelona and I don’t have an issue with it. But he has run down his contract and the situation has affected his form. It has had direct consequences. The criticism is justified. If you treat Manchester City like Barcelona’s finishing school, expect some crap for it.

I agree, Garcia is far from shit and he is highly regarded by Pep. I really liked what I saw when he got his first appearances for us. Intelligent defender but maybe not cut out for this league. That said, he should leave as he doesn't want to extend.
