Eric Garcia to Barcelona

The only regret is we will never see him given a chance as a defensive midfielder as undoubtedly he is a talented footballer, but not neccessarily with the athleticism to play centre half for a team defending as a high line.

If he had been selected as a potential def mid, I would not have a problem with it, provided it was in the League Cup.

"cruel slander".... So he's not shite then? I'm confused

You sound confused, very.

He's a 19yo kid and he's been selected to play for the first team at Manchester City FC.
Possibly the best team in La Liga and possibly the best team in the Premier League want the kid and, I'd guess, quite a few other top end other clubs would want him if they thought that they'd be in with a shout of getting him, but a few experts on here think he's shite . . it's comical.

He's obviously and demonstrably fantastic for a boy of his age, probably amongst the top 5 in Europe and top 10 teenage centre backs currently in world football.
What is shite is nob ends throwing needless and pointless abuse at him to make themselves feel better about him moving on

Me? Well I'm not really arsed if he goes or stays (he's great "for his age" but many fall by the wayside), but even if I was arsed I wouldn't be getting out of shape and calling out a kid who's been thrown into a man's role and done his best to help the team I support.

I confess I haven’t read back so if Neville Kneville says he hasn’t said anything personal I believe him. You are arguing that a likeable, mature, unassuming 19 year old who grew up in Barcelona, became Part of the Barcelona youth team, moved to a foreign country of his own volition and plied his trade at a new club (successfully some might argue) is a vulnerable 19 year old who could be scarred for life by some negative online comments about a situation HE created? Come on!

Firstly I’ve witnessed genuine online trolling that resulted suicide attempts. This isn’t that. Nothing like it.

I genuinely feel for Caroline Flack and her friends and family. Countless other people, many of who we aren’t aware of that suffer online or otherwise abuse (personal abuse due to their appearance etc, Jason Lee, Lee Chadwick, hell even Steve Bruce). But at the end of the day, they live in the public domain. I wouldn’t like it at all, but that’s why I wouldn’t do anything in the public eye, (also I’m completely talentless so it’s not an issue).

I would suggest Eric Garcia is a 19 year old MAN! A man who has had lots of opportunities and had experiences way in excess of the vast majority of other men of a similar age. I get he wants to return home to Barcelona and I don’t have an issue with it. But he has run down his contract and the situation has affected his form. It has had direct consequences. The criticism is justified. If you treat Manchester City like Barcelona’s finishing school, expect some crap for it.

Sorry mate, I hate to have a pop at the poster rather than the opinion but you're talking out of your arse here.

The only thing that effected 'his form' is being thrown in at the deep end due to a crisis.

I don't cate how big and how talented he is, he's a teenager. It's bullying and you should lay off the kid and you know it.

See, you are doing it now.

People who think he can't defend for shit, are basically liars, because you don't agree.

I'll ask you if you can think of some examples of his 'good' defending or positional sense, which is any better than the Fulham & Brentford defenders on tv right now.

I don't think he would get a game for either.
You would be lying if you thought he was good but said he was shite. You are expressing your own opinion, which you believe, and I am saying that I believe your opinion is wrong. That you use such force in your expression suggests an anger that may be clouding your judgement, in my view.

The two teams you mentioned don't want the kid... Only one does unless he is holding us to ransom and refusing to sign a deal...

I guess you are calling me a "nob end"... I won't take it as an insult... I can see he isn't good enough... Pep sadly can't

Pep gets paid a shit-load to make these decisions and often baffles me with his logic... He persists with the likes of Mahrez and Gundogan and don't get me wrong, they've had their moments but based on what I see with my own eyes.. I'd get rid of all three of the players mentioned

What I'm saying is that he's a teenager who's done extremely well in difficult circumstances and a few nob ends are throwing crap at him for shits and giggles.

It's bullying and IMO it's indefensible in all walks of life.

I'm not going to argue further on the topic because I don't come on here to fall out with anyone.
You're locked into defending attacks on a teenager and the topic doesn't require further input as it's open to anyone who cares to look at the posts and they can make their own minds up about whether it's cool to throw needless shit at a kid who don't deserve it.

I find it morally repugnant but maybe that's just me eh?

I am still angry that Pep chose to play him every week instead of working on a proper cb pairing. It cost us badly.

I have asked about 20 people in recent times, to give an example of what makes this slow, aerially challenged player any better positionally than an average Championship defender. Not 1 decent answer.

Firing back the same attitude: I recon the only reason anyone rates him is down to Pep's comments, which were made after one game, where Mané ran at him & he fell over.

I think football as a sport, is perhaps the wrong one for you ?

The 'kid' would be playing at Elland fucking Rd in front of 30,000 screaming Leeds fans, if circumstances were different.

Both of you would have to grow up then.

The bottom line with Garcia is that he is just too slow, he reads the game ok, but you need to be the next Baresi to get away with such a chronic lack of pace. Pep has totally indulged him because of the Barca connection in my opinion He should not be picked ahead of Stones, even a struggling Stones. Harwood Bellis and even Tosin are better prospects by far.
