Eric Garcia to Barcelona

Wouldn't surprise me to still him ahead of Stones in the pecking order, despite this fiasco.
This is Pep we are talking about, who does like to pick his favourites at times.
Pep's given John Stones numerous chances and has always publicly backed him, in return John Stones has let Pep and the club down.

Time for John Stones to work hard, sort his life out and get fit and if he does get a chance, take it.

I think this became personal on a few levels... shitty behaviour by Barca - tapping up the player, lowballing with pathetic unrealistic offers. A history between a number of City's Execs and the Barcelona Board - clearly no love loss there, and some of Barca's underhand tactics in the past clearly still rankle (passing those Mancini stories around ahead of the Cup Final being a case in point). Garcia's behaviour, he's behaved badly, chanced his arm and been put in his place, I have no issues with him wanting out, but he should have said at the outset he wanted to go - and not start the process of running his contract down by stringing the club along saying he'd sign an extension when he clearly had no (or little) intention of doing so. A few months with the kids or a loan to Bolton are his only options for a few months. If Barca really wanted him they'd have tried harder to get him. I suspect little Garcia is no more than a pawn in a power struggle between Executive egos... Barca thought taking him back would upset City but when it came to the crunch they didn't want him enough to stump up cash they don't have. On top of that City have clearly manoeuvred Messi in a place where he is going to leave for us on a free at some point and Barcelona's Board will be feeling bruised and upset - so there is a state of war between the two clubs with Garcia caught in the crossfire - no wonder he's taken to wearing a helmet!

If that IS the case, which i myself don't believe but neither can i argue otherwise, then imho 10m€ or whatever they offered in the end is well worth missing out on to settle scores like that, and set a stance on any upcoming ones. We read claims in their media that we are 'on a list' of clubs they refuse to sell to, and it often seems met with praise. We of course were not so unreasonable nor stubborn, we were totally happy to sell to them, but for a price we set. Following through on that stance, worth a short term loss.

We praise clubds like Dortmund for being known not to accept anything less than their valuation, so why criticise our club for doing the same.

I hope you grow up and read your posts after a few years. Do you think transfermkt is a FIFA based open market? Its a random webiste with values THEY deem ok. People dont sell a player at a certain value because transfermkt has a certain value. Thats like saying Tom Heaton gave the most fantasy points this year in FPL and should be the highest paid goalkeeper.

Lucky I didn't trust them for the contract length otherwise I would be still thinking it was until 2022

Your new book
"Quick guide: how to sort your life out"
will be a bestseller in the western world for decades to come ;)

I have not heard any reports whatsoever of this.
Well in 3 years he made major club change back and forth between barca and city. And he is 19. Lol. When barca didn't meet his needs he jumped to city and now he wants to go back to barca. I don't give a damn his choice but going out on press conferences announcing multiple times he doesn't want to renew and all isn't a sign of maturity. Even sane never did that.
