Eric Garcia to Barcelona

The guy is nowhere near as a bad as people make out, the fact is if he hadn't declared his intention to leave he wouldn't get half the flack he is getting now.

I don't think he is going to develop to an elite central defender, however he is good enough to have a top flight career either here or in Spain.

A move is best for all parties and wish him all the best.

Perhaps he has simply realised that while he clearly has ability, his significant lack of pace and physical presence will hinder him far more in England than in Spain? If so, can't blame him for wanting to return home.

He was getting games for Man City and Spain at the age of 19. I don't think he would be doubting himself on that front just yet. He was also being offered a new and improved contract so it's clear that the club rated him too. His significant lack of pace is incredibly exaggerated.

His childhood club came in for him and probably made him a very enticing offer in terms of playing time that was beyond what even City would offer. It's disappointing that he's not sticking around but it's extremely reasonable that he's chosen to leave and it's in no way a knock on City that he's doing so.

I have a question:

When Barca goes bankrupt, can they discharge the rest of the Coutinho debt in administration?

Hopefully Garcia plays well in the FA Cup match this weekend.

He was getting games but it was fairly clear that the qualities they value in Spain are not valued over here, it is Barca a once in a lifetime opportunity he is hoping for, not just a move back home, so far it has not happened 18 days into the transfer window still no pre-contract just a lot of supposition

As I understand things, Garcia and Barcelona have agreed terms on a five year deal but due to a delay in the Presidential elections Barcelona have decided not to buy Garcia now but wait until the summer and get him for nothing. This means we still have to pay this guy for the five or six months during which time he will hardly play and then give him away. That sounds like quite a deal for us.

I hope City remember how Barcelona have been tapping up this player for ages in any future dealings between the Clubs. We are a big Club now and shouldn’t be pushed around by other Clubs. One thing I have seen the Rags do is to have contract extension options which they exercise rather than give players away for nothing.

He’s a young Spanish kid who has two options

1) go back to live with your family in Spain and be first choice at Barcelona

2) stay in rainy Manchester, away from your family and be 5th choice at City.

No brainier.

Wish him well but at the same time I wouldn’t even be giving him minutes for the EDS ahead of Harwood-Bellis bow that he’s definitely going.

I thought football debts had to be paid off in full, FIFA regulations
Dont want to see Garcia anywhere near our team again, give the minutes to players who want to play for City

The elephant in the room is Pep.
He really wants to keep Garcia.
If he didn't, Garcia would have played very few games for us and been sold by now.
I honestly think that Pep is still persuading Garcia to stay and is not worried at all about what the supporters feel.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Ake or Laporte gone before Garcia.
