Eric Garcia to Barcelona

The only thing I don't like about this deal is that it smacks yet again of a European rival tapping up one of our players.

That aside, it may force our hand on brining in a new right sided centre back, and I still think John Stones is potentially good enough to challenge any new centre back we may bring in.

He wants to go, Barcelona have some romanticised or politicised idea to bring him home and he is the new puyol, let them as long as it's at a good price.

Only area we may take a hit is wages, but am sure we can cover that.

Also nicely fuels the speculation that we're gearing up for a bigger transfer by trimming the edges of our squad.
.
Sorry but you`re very naive if you think for one moment that City would never dream of doing this.It happens everywhere in football and it will never go away.

A decent player but not worth clinging on, if he decided he wants to go to Barcelona good luck to him, we should make sure we get a decent fee and and a signing-on clause though

All those nothing games at the end of the season he played in we could have got some game time and confidence into John Stones. What an obnoxious little prick.

City are fucking livid with Garcia, to put it mildly.

Last month they were pretty certain he had agreed to a new five-year offer and would sort it when the Premier League season was done.

After everything Pep has done for him, playing him every week, that's got to be a bitter pill.

Personally, because we're fans of varying shades of perspective, I'd never let him play for us again, certainly not tomorrow night.

Does it also mean we lose a club trained/home grown body?

I had been told not to write John Stones off just yet and this would support the argument we need to keep him as our only naturally right-sided centre back option.

He has less than two years left on his own deal, so this Garcia announcement certainly gives Stones a strong hand in any negotiations.

Stones could be replaced with any bang-average CB and we would be no worse off. In fact if the bang-average replacement can stay fit and keep his cock in his pants, we would be better off. I will not be happy if Stones wangled himself a nice new deal on the basis that he is English and Garcia leaves.

Tosin?

By his own account Torres was ready to stay until the last minute if 2 of 3 conditions were met. How realistic that was for Valencia I don't know, maybe they feel similar, but of late there has been a lot of talk about our player moving by representatives of other clubs. I don't think we did that once with Torres, or any player for that fact. Bayern's behavior in their persuit of sane was shameless and leaves a bad taste.

Imagine you are right to some extent though, a very grey area with not being allowed to approach other club's players directly but going to agents who then speak to said players and influence as appropriate.
I mean, Pep called Torres up and convinced him to come. He said it himself. I don't know how we can be mad at Barca, especially considering we took Garcia from them in the first place.

I honestly don’t know. I haven’t followed his development because I never thought he would even come into the reckoning. Watching him at City a couple of years ago was painful viewing and I didn’t think he stood a chance at our level. Others who have followed him have clearly seen a big improvement but it’s a bloody big jump from WBA and Blackburn to playing in a side trying to win the PL and CL.
