Our own boy wonder

- was on loan at Molde in 1992.

No it was the "pretty prolific until he got into our 1st team".
Broke his leg start of 86/87 season and was top scorer in his final season with us despite on the bench most of the time as Machin played either Biggins or Oldfield.
all that wasted effort - perhaps you could be a tad more specific. I know he scored 18 goals for us friend and four broken legs took their toll but sadly a superstar he did not turn out to be.

Terrific in his pressing and in transitioning into attack. Great size and burst to separate from defenders combined with using his body well to protect the ball have to make him a defender's nightmare. Has good goalscoring instincts, creates space & regularly positions himself instinctively to meet a cross or receive a pass. Probably stems from the fact that he actually was much smaller in youth football and had to be smarter to find space & create chances - serves him well now that he has physical tools to augment those instincts. What you do not see much from him, however, and is relevant to Barcelona is how he does against a deep block or when there isn't much space between lines. He does possess good clinical skills & touch so he should be able to adapt to any system - especially since a possession based side would benefit from a clinical finisher like Erling

More than anything else though I like how well he uses his big frame, making it impossible to take the ball off of him. Looks a bonafide goalscorer, even when he has largely poached most of his goals this season

Strong links to United and despite the relationship with Ole, would be surprising

I think the thing that makes him particularly interesting is how he sprouted in size at 15 - he was smaller than most of his teammates prior to that and had to be clever in creating space & scoring chances. It has clearly served him well

If he is half as good as people seem to think he is then he’s he chances of him joining United are remote

True but if he went there he could probably get at least £500,000 per week when compared to the over-hyped twats already on their payroll .
