Erling Haaland

One is clearly far more marketable than the other.

Yeah, that was literally the entire point of my opening comment that it appears nobody bothered to read. One is more marketable, but why? There is no footballing reason for it.

Now everyone beleives we're getting Haaland it's impossible to have a discussion about him anymore unfortunately, this thread is just for posting newspaper rumours to back up what everyone hopes will happen.

funny how it works really isn’t it?

Haaland has not done anything Kane didn’t do already.

I’m I wonder how much of it is to do with Haaland being available and therefore more interesting to fans of all top clubs, and how much is to do with Mino and marketing.

A rational conversation can't be had on Bluemoon about Kane. I learned that last summer. Those who don't like him, cannot help themselves and need to talk his abilities down too, which shows how irrational their dislike of him is.

And don't get me wrong I'd prefer Haaland over Kane this summer, but Kane would be a fucking monster in this team and the idea that Haaland is already levels above him just isn't true.

The Raiola point is a fair one, he has an eye for a player and knows how to maximise their profile. But Haaland's on pitch performances have warranted the hype since he joined Dortmund.

There is a footballing reason, the lad has proven, so far, to be a goalscoring machine.

He's young and with the talent he has, he along with Mbappe, are being touted by pretty much everyone to be the heir apparents to Messi and Ronaldo, as the next footballing superstars.

If he carries on his scoring at his current levels, he will be a Balon d'or contender for years to come

Spot on mate - the whole debate has become so reductive and binary (not to mention bizarrely emotive), that the space for any perspective which doesn’t fall absolutely on one side or the other is lost.

The reality is both players would be fantastic in this City side. They’d bring different qualities, but both would work given how we set up.

I happen to prefer Haaland, as I think he has more exciting potential and could be with us for the long term given his age. Plus there’s the story with Haaland that gives him a genuine connection to the Club.

With Kane - he’s as good as he’s going to get right now. Which is still pretty fucking special, but the potential with him isn’t quite as explosive/exciting. Plus we’d all know he’s a Spurs fan at heart - which is fine, but doesnt quite have the investment of Haaland.

Bluemoon, reductive and binary? Never!

Panto season isn't for a good six months.

Kinda agree with your second point tbf. Perhaps there is an element of that. The same was very much the case last summer when everyone was convinced we were getting Kane. For me it isn't bevause 'I think we are getting Haaland, I stated similar opinions last summer too.

I don't quite agree there is no footballing reason that one is more spotlight-appealing than the other. There is no statistical reason perhaps. But footballing-wise, I can see it.

Maybe partly theit look as athletes, and physical attributes as well.

Has a bit of the world cup 1998 about it. Suker happened to be the highest scorer and arguably possibly the player of the tournament. Yet all eyes were on the 18 year old original Ronaldo, and the tournament is probably remembered as his emergance.

How can PSG afford even more stupid money?
I'm starting to side with Tebag on PSG.

Despite Marca can confirm Kylian Mbappe will be a Real Madrid player next summer, the French star seems determined to keep sending mixed signals about his future.
