Possibly, but I don't see them reducing the price, and I don't see Marina doing the deal at the mooted prices. I also think that whenever you start to see stories of "club X will buy player Y by selling 3/4 first team players" you know that deal isn't happening.

Hasn't this been reported about City's transfer shenanigans this summer? Will buy Kane but will only go for Grealish if they get rid of Bernardo and/or Jesus? Not so much for the financial burden I guess.

I guess Chelsea will be in a similar position to us in that they won't be able to buy unless they sell for squad number purposes

would Chelsea put Werner in as part of the deal? that could be a clincher for Dortmund.
Doubt Werner would go. My real opinion is he doesn’t go antwhere this summer, because think they’ll put a deadline on it and unless somebody pays £150 mill by then he stays. Same as Sancho last year.

I would love to know what percentage of any fee that would actually reach Dortmund and not Riola or the Haaland mob.

That, or him and his agent start making a scene similar to what Mino did with Pogba when he went to the rags.

Think their fees will be on top of any fee Dortmund will accept. If it was £150 mill including all the agent fees then maybe we or Chelsea would stretch to it.

There were stories that they were insisting on a fixed sell on clause in his next contract (150m reported) that would be a piss take and I can't see any club allowing that.

I've long thought that Haaland -> City makes the most sense for both player and club, so much so that a few months ago I thought a transfer was almost a certainty, but there really has been a (supposedly, externally reported) lack of movement there.

So either things are happening entirely behind the scenes, one or both parties are not interested, or he is just genuinely not moving this summer. I think the latter is most likely, which is why we've shifted to Kane.

And hell, maybe Kane was first choice all along. I would prefer Haaland but do believe Kane would fit this side like a glove. It's the injuries and dealing with Levy that worries me but a fit and firing Kane would be fantastic for us, imo.

I'm pretty old school with transfers and players getting big wages. If somebody came up to me, and I was already a goalscoring sensation but playing in a different league, and they said 'would you like to sign for Man City and play under Pep with all the players they have?', I wouldn't give it a second thought. Regardless of who you support or the money on offer, the opportunity to play in perhaps the most attractive footballing side in modern times would be too hard to resist. Shirley.

Fully agree Shirley. In any walk of life, the opportunity to join/work with the best in your particular industry would be hard to turn down for those with the ambition to excel.

The fact of the matter is Football is a Business.

And in this business, players' main asset is their bodies as a result of which they have a very limited time to make as much money as they can before their bodies give out.

Look at Yaya Toure, why do you think he was taking all those moves to those sketchy lower-tier clubs in Greece and Ukraine, he probably didn't save his money and invest it properly and had to take those moves.

In Haaland's case, he is looking to assure his and his families future, Look at his father Alf, Lost his career over one bad tackle, Look at Eriksen recently, probably will never play a minute of professional football again. Ryan Mason when he got that nasty hit from Cahill.

The problem with recent events is it could be argued from Haaland's perspective that the best in your particular industry actually resides in London and wants you as well.

Could be of course. But if it's a career decision you look back 10 years and forward 10 years. Pep is the outstanding choice.

If Chelsea get this lad they will be right up there (if they arent already)...they beat us convincingly twice int he last couple of months of the season (League and CL final) and looked very good and very comfortable both times.

For me Kane and Grealish (if that is who we end up with ) dont improve us enough.....
