Ethiopian airline crash

That goes without saying really. I'm much less stressed flying than driving north on the M6 Friday afternoons. I always notice idiots putting other drivers lives in danger trying to shave a couple of minutes off their journey time. It's like wacky races.

I am a terrible flyer. Just feels unnatural to me and every time it makes a noise or turbulence I am in panic. If someone said drive to south of France now I would have no issue whatsoever as I feel more in control.

I try and comfort myself by thinking how many planes take off each day.

I had a mate who was asked to do some contract work on an Ethiopian Airlines jet some years ago. He started the job, but when he took a panel off, he came across what he described as a "non-conventional" repair on a cable. Apparently, it was linked to one of the engine sensors.

He refused to do any more work on that aircraft, and said he would never ever fly with that particular airline.

I've flown many times over the years. Only once got the heebie-jeebies before a flight with my ex Mrs to Bulgaria in 98 iirc. I think it was an old Aeroflot plane that that was making a really weird wheezing sound from the engines before take off. Fortunately it flew ok. Never felt unsafe since TBH. Of all the major passenger plane crashes in the world, all are reported on the news.

As for driving, there are fatalities on Britain's roads every single day. And I've driven the length and breadth of UK roads, but I feel my safety is down to the driving of other road users. Some fuckin' idiotic selfish drivers about, that's for sure.

Some crazy fuckers on the roads nowadays. I drive every day on the motorways for the job and see some hideous driving, nearly always by men under 30 in either cars or white vans.
