Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

Hello everyone. I don't live in England. I want to ask a question to the fans who go to the stadium. Why do we have such attendance at Champions League matches? People in my country don't understand this.
We’ve got 3 home games in 6 days 2 being in the cup and I think the attendance was more than reported.

I’ll bite - where are you from?

I live in Portugal and they are footy mad here but I’ve never heard any reference once to our attendances when chatting about City whilst they are on - this is a UK media / United driven agenda

I don’t mind people being critical of the manager if there was something to criticise.
Haha okay.

Anyhow just seen pep on football focus and he has reminded me we aren't a big club like united Liverpool Bayern and Barcelona. I think that was the full list of clubs. He likes that we are a little club. Why he thinks a little club would be full of fans every game he didn't mention.

Cheers Pep sorry for all the confusion and thanks for gracing us with your presence.

In the unedited version he also said Wycombe wanderers and Barnsley are bigger clubs. Fucking bald fraud!

If fans are a bit touchy about having the piss taken out of them, I don’t think football is the sport for them. Time they went and got another hobby where they won’t be offended by a bit of banter.
Bit harsh. People's personalities are all different. Personally I get a bit tired of all the 'banter' and now and again down right offended. Mainly because most of this banter is given out by nomarks that have no clue about the club they profess to support so have no business talking football anyway, let alone take the piss out of an actual supporter.

Our manager commenting on the attendance only fuels the narrative that we don't and can't get good crowds when the truth is that we do, have and always will do.

I think it’s safe to say it’s a touchy subject... haha!
One thing it has done is show all opposition fans that it’s something that gets under the skin of many blues so I don’t expect it to go away when they know they have an open goal.

what makes a big club, do you want to be like the clubs he mentioned. We always had pride about being salt of the earth community club.

I want to be great but not big & flashy, nor do I care how they view us. They know we are great & they told us we never will be, not in their lifetime. Everything they say we can’t do we end up achieving & I think we’ll hate the big & flashy when it happens.

Basically for the Champion's League matches it is because there are a lot of fans who are not that bothered about the CL. Then there is the fact that the CL matches are played midweek which is not a good time for people who are working well away from the stadium. They can't take their youngsters because it is a school night and they might not get home until after midnight. The lack of transport to and from the stadium doesn't help.
For other games it could be that they haven't got the money to go to so many games per week. Plus again the lack of transport from the stadium. The cost of a match can be prohibitive if you have a family to support.
When we were a less successful club we didn't have the same problems. One match every week and when we were still in the cup runs maybe two now and then! I guess in a way it is what they call the price of success and some of us can't afford it. This season as well you have to add the fact that the pandemic has hit a lot of people very hard. Loss of jobs, having to go part time doesn't help at all.
It isn't just the cost of a ticket either, it is add ons like transport costs and sometimes when folk come straight from work the cost of something to eat.

I hope this helps? It isn't that we don't love our team or our football it is the external factors I've mentioned. Good luck, stay safe, take care.
