Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

New songs are always welcome but they need to be simple and catchy. A lot of our new songs are just mumbling bollocks that even a lot of our regular fans can't decipher. The Ruben Dias one isn't great but I hate the one about empty seats and the one to the tune of Brimful of Asha. There are too many songs about our rivals too.

Get the basics out on Sunday and get everyone engaged:

Bluemoon
WNRH
CTID
Stand up for the champions
Oh City we love you
We fight 'til the end
We are City from Maine Road

Etc.

Need some new catchy songs in my opinion. But the main thing is they need to be shared on here and social media so everyone knows them throughout the ground.
I remember being in a pub at the Bruges away game in October and they were all singing a song for kevin de Bruyne.
It was to the tune of 'Dirty old Town'
It was something like this:
I found my love at the Etihad
Dreamed a dream of a ginger lad
Plays midfield he's the best we've had
He's Kevin de Bruyne, he's kevin de Bruyne

Sounded decent in the pub with everyone singing it, thought it might reach the terraces but doesn't seem to have, maybe not to everyones taste.

This^!

Although, loads of people don’t have social media like Twitter and Instagram. But everyone can search YouTube without requiring to sign up to an account.

The 1894 YouTube channel has a grand total of two videos on it, both from five years ago. It has 11 subscribers.

Plus people don’t want to see concourse shit, they want to see fans in the stands creating a football atmosphere in the football stadium. You don’t get videos posted by San Lorenzo fans from their concourse, they post world famous videos of their stadium singing. In fact, you never see concourse suit from any of the decent sets of fans around Argentina or Europe. It’s always from in the stands.

United’s new singing section that opened this season has some good videos across different channels, filming their singing section from the side (they’re not allowed to get their phones out during the game to film/take pics in their singing section).

I think their new singing section is very good and will only grow, the cunts!

Who on earth wants to see or listen to them tossers singing. They had a singing section in the seventies it was called the Stretford End and didn't need anyone to organise it. Another example of the footy fan experience being sanitised.

You’re missing the point. It’s not about those tossers, it’s about us.

The poster said we need to get more people to learn our songs via videos on social media, and my point is that we need to get videos of our singing section singing songs in the stadium on YouTube and showed an example of what I mean.

Yh remember this was going around a bit on twitter then a few weeks later it become the song for Liverpool's chant for VVD

I would love for the full version of Blue Moon to be sang rather than the repeated verse. Would be amazing pre-game at least as a sing along to get the atmosphere going. Ive never liked the upbeat version just think it sounds a bit naff.

Blue Moon is a classic and when it gets going properly is immense but singing the whole thing before a game would be incredible to lift the place.

As many have said, too many songs about former players or we never win at home! Where are the songs about the domestic treble or 100pts?!

Those were glorious moments that one day might be all we have to sing about again!

I was really surprised by the Madrid fans. Never thought anything to them before, but it seemed like every single one of them was getting behind them and there were only about 50% of the seats there on Level 1.

There was a shot of the crowd after the second goal had gone in and there was a young woman in the crowd who looked like she’d just finished a marathon. Obviously with all the celebrations of the first goal, then getting behind the team to go and get the second, celebrating the second and then jumping around singing that they got it… she was in tears and looked absolutely knackered as she was jumping up and down.

Everyone around her was going wild. Quite amazing scenes to be honest.

Rangers were similar after their goals. Fans going fucking mental, limbs everywhere, all stands were at it, one lad was in tears.
This young woman you mentioned.
She could have been crossing and uncrossing her legs ( like they do in the House of Commons)
and that could easily have played havoc with our players concentration.
Grounds for appealing a replay surely !!!

‘I met my love by the Etihad,
Dreamed a dream of a ginger lad,
He plays both wings,
Best we’ve ever had,
Kevin De Bruyne, Kevin De Bruyne’!

Yeah, never had Madrid down as the loudest fans, especially given how they’ve treated some players like Ronaldo when he went 2 games without scoring. But in those big European nights, that extra 6-8000 fans could really ramp up the atmosphere.

The quarter finals against Spurs was electric, Sane 2-1 against Liverpool was crazy. Could really make the difference.

A year before van Dijk signed for Liverpool. It‘s not unusual for us to have decent original songs that don’t take off for whatever reason (maybe it’s that section of Blues who are just too cool) but if other clubs sang them they would take off and sound great.

Watching the Rangers game the other night, it just reminded me of our 11/12 prem run-in.

It just meant more then, think it will only majorly improve when we are shit for a bit.

I think our Hey Jude song sounds great when everyone joins in. But like many of our chants, they’re too short and peter out quickly.

How about adding a verse to Hey Jude

Hey Phil
You don’t play bad
You’re from Stockport
A local lad
You went to town on the 192
Just like us
We did too

(Repeat)

Na na na na na na na
Na na na na
CITY!!!

Our support has become a bit numb, I don’t know why that is but I go to games to enjoy myself and give the team as much as an advantage as possible. Just after Madrid scored their second goal it was mental, everyone on their feet all waving scarves and the noise was deafening. After the game they all stayed behind for a good twenty minutes singing their hearts out and they were still hanging about the stadium after we eventually got let out at half 12. The etihad wouldn’t have been the same, we would have played Wonderwall while everyone is quickly leaving to fuck off to their cars.

In the pub in Madrid on Tuesday night I was thinking to myself we are in desperate need of some new songs. That Zinchenko song is fucking shite and I feel embarrassed when people are singing it. For example the Balotelli song that still gets belted out, that’s the sort of song I can get behind, we just need it for our current players. I was at Peterborough a couple months ago and Bernardo was warming up right next to the away section. The whole away end was singing his song and he genuinely looked moved by it and De Bruyne even patted him on his back as a bit of recognition.
