We always sell those away seats returned to the club very quickly after they go on sale for £30.

Like we had over 10,000 people apply for the £250 season tickets when SSL3 was expanded… we could fill a big fuck-off stand if we made it all rail seating and £300 per season ticket and £30 per match day ticket.

We seem to properly understand our fanbase where the club doesn’t have a bloody clue though.

We have the fanbase in Greater Manchester alone to fill a 65,000 stadium every single week if the pricing was right and the set-up of the stadium was right with proper decent stands to identify with.

And imagine how good our atmosphere could be if it was like this. Hamburg wasn’t as good as it was because it was a UEFA Cup Quarter Final, it was mainly because tickets were a fiver and it enticed a certain type of City fan.

True, but another significant reason, imo, was the fact you could buy 6 at once. Groups of people were able to sit together and naturally that gives people more confidence to play up/sing a bit, where normal matches people are dotted around the ground in ones or twos.

If memory serves me correct tickets went on sale the week of the away match in Hamburg. Im sure, although happy to be corrected, that was the reason I was scratching around for a ticket.

We could do with the supporters club or someone official bringing up pricing with the club. Feels like we have no one standing up for fans at the minute

Didn't know Liverpool were doing kids tickets at £9 till this thread. That's a no-brainer if you ask me, get them hooked young like I was and they'll still be coming when they've got a job that can pay for a season card.

Does it come with a free brick to stone a coach with too?

On this particular topic I agree with virtually everything you post and I just wish that somehow somebody at the club could hear what you say. Maybe the City Matters guy who posts on here could facilitate that or suggest it. The club obviously don’t understand the heart and soul of our fanbase and need it spelling out to them.

Just to play devil’s advocate though - do the City board see any benefit in having a full, bouncing 65k stadium paying £30 a pop rather than a nearly full 53k stadium paying £50/£60 each especially when the fan demographic the club seem to be courting is more likely to buy overpriced food / souvenirs than your local mad for it but cash strapped 20 or 30 yr old ?

You and I are always on the same page about this. Fans who sing are usually more cost conscious too. You know exactly what I mean. That’s why they could and should have had one end that was dirt cheap tickets and designated as an atmosphere end. Season tickets at £250 offered first to the people in the existing singing areas would have sold out in no time. They could have left more to sell match to match at £20. When they are gone they are gone.

The rest of the stadium could be priced on the same basis it is now. It would kill several birds with one stone: better atmosphere, a fuller ground and a better and stronger club identity.

The problem is at a high level city board, the club knows city fans have an issue with ticket prices, it has been brought to their attention often enough, it goes to the decision makers at the very top of the board and is ignored. Call it ignorance or what ever we want, reduced ticket prices are not on the elites agenda.

Fans are irritated by ticket prices, but it doesnt go any further than vocal across social media. It needs taking to another level with a protest if it is to get noticed. I dont think it will escalate to this, i dont think fans would take part, a lot would say although they are annoyed at ticket prices they are not willing to be seen to be going against the club. Or am i worng and would fans take time out before a game to stage something ?

said this all along about the match day experience for fans in three other areas of the stadium getting as much pleasure from listening to one end singing away as they do seeing the game itself.

The first thing football fans say that dont go to games often is " i love the atmosphere"

There are a lot of people at a high level within the club that are in full support of a good atmosphere and help us. Getting the penny to drop right at the top of the board and see that fare price tickets would help the end that creates most noise is difficult.

Then again i wouldnt want to discriminate, the whole stadium deserves a better price offer for tickets and in particular the young fans.

But what’s to stop people buying bargain basement season tickets for the cheap end and then only showing up 6 times a season ?

the prices are disgusting. No wonder the atmosphere is poor, as you say. Let’s price out the people who make the noise, let’s also price out people during a pandemic in a relatively low income city….

The thing that makes it worse is that the people we (1894) deal with at the club definitely do get it. They are on our side. The demands go up the ladder and the door is slammed shut by the hierarchy at the club. To the people at board level (Omar, Ferran, Txiki etc) who have no previous connection or affinity with City or Manchester, we're nothing more than a revenue stream. They'd benefit massively by having meaningful communication with City fans - even electing one to the board would be a good start (but will never happen IMO).
