Towards the end of the match a Zurich fan let off a flare right at the front of the stand and held it up until it went out. This happened in-front of the stewards who were stood a few yards from the Zurich fans.


It’s not about using flares, smoke bombs, flags with sticks, etc, it’s about the double standards the clubs, the police, stewards(who are only doing their job) apply to PL/English fans compared to European fans. I wouldn’t get into an away end if I brought a flag with a stick. I’d have it confiscated at the gate. If I got in with a flare, or a less harmful smoke bomb and let either off inside the ground, even in a CL match, I’d get arrested, charged, and get a 3 year banning order.

As for the Zurich fans they sang constantly throughout the match. But they had one of those drummers who drummed non-stop for 90+ minutes and needed shooting.

They got fined earlier in the campaign for causing bother at Tynecastle.
Some teams seem to get away with a lot

Town full of munchkins ? In the 80s out of town rags got taught a few hard lessons. Their was a belief among them that we were a family club whose support was all kids with their dad's and old men. They thought they could act how they wanted in home areas without consequences. A few encounters with the Governers made them realise their mistake, virtually every Maine Rd saw bloodied United fans escorted out of our stands. Not including the 5 1 which was a deliberate attack on the North Stand by Manchester reds but a few gobshites dotted about who didn't have a clue of the trouble they were in. Less common these days thank f** k.

I don’t particularly mind a megaphone. At Copenhagen, their front man (I refuse to use the word ‘Capo’, it’s cringeworthy hearing Brits use that word) had a microphone and was connected to the stadium PA system.

Well said.

Everyone sang it back then, 99% of those singing it, me included, didn’t mean any harm by it - we were just goading rags. Since then the world has become infested by snowflakes who take offence at everything on behalf of other people and look to virtue signal at any opportunity …. Exhibit A … Eric’s reply above
