Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

I think the atmosphere has been great all season and on the big nights i have seldom seen better.

Even the newbie fans are emotionally invested. They like the Poznan, they vibe off the team, etc.

Half and half scarves and selfies aren't for me, but neither is Facebook and the world still turns.

When the team are doing special things, there is a special connection that always goes back to our siege mentality.

You come for us, you come for all of us.

Atmosphere was top in 2022 and even in games against average teams like Fulham and Brentford the fans stuck with the team to try and drive us on for the win and there were even hardly any early leavers for ages last year.

But after the World Cup the atmosphere was terrible. The Everton game, everyone fucked off from 75 minutes and there was still 27 minutes left until the game ended. Wolves, first half v Spurs,

Then we clicked into gear again once that stupid World Cup was out of our system and the news about the charges against us came out galvanised us and we’ve been top notch again in recent months.

The ones who are actually there for us, I like.

It’s the ones who aren’t, the ones with United superstore bags tucked under their coats, the ones falling over seats to film Messi Mbappe and cheer Mane warming up, the ones rooting for the opposition… they can get fucked!

I'll die on this hill that Fulham was one of the best atmospheres of the season and one of the best in recent years outside of the big league/knockout UCL games.

I also think those PL charges are the biggest factor in our resurgence in the last months of the season after a pretty terrible few months after the World Cup. They came at a time when the team was struggling, unrest in the dressing room and an atmosphere that was fizzling out following a great start to the season. That Villa game and the backs against the wall atmosphere in the first half set the tone for the rest of the season and we havent looked back since, the players or the fans.

Here we go again. ‘fans’ sat on their arses at home in front of TV calling out the fans in the stadium. Fucking laughable. I’m at the Stadium. The atmosphere is OK. It ain’t rocking like the Arsenal game. But that wasn’t exactly the greatest 45 minutes of football we have witnessed at the Etihad is it?
