Etihad atmosphere

I think there needs to be core of a few thousand who decide and shout their lungs out. We don't need complicated chants since most don't get them. Maybe some simple ones could really get the crowd going. But even if most of the crowd is down (as it has been a lot), the core few thousand really need to make every game special. We have a special team, special manager. Whats holding us back !

Also hate a lot of the fans who come to just moan and crib and never say a word of support.

Couldn't agree more. When we are away , a few thousand fans make more noise than the home support overall - that's all it takes. If all the moaners on here sang at the game it would be awesome!!

I suppose, to be fair, the atmosphere at all PL grounds isn't great. Even the YNWA brigade only sing at the beginning & when they're winning. The swamp is dire considering the attendance.

I stand in the singing section and a times its great but the songs don't spread, it's at its loudest when the songs start from the 3rd tier and flow down, get that 3rd tier rocking and the whole south stand follows

Apart from the 1894 group, we have collectively become apathetic and expectant. Expectant in the team entertaining us enough to rouse a response. And usually, if the team(home games in particular) start off slow, the atmosphere is set to almost hearing a pin drop in most sections.

This never used to be the case. The fans would always get behind the team and the singing would start before KO. The irony is the worse the clubs standing became, and the worse we became on the pitch, the more passionate and loyal we were and we were as one in a birds of a feather type way.

Most of our passion and fervent support was at Maine road. I remember one time when we were utter dire, we celebrated getting a corner louder than we celebrate goals at the Etihad nowadays.

Football supporters have(generally) changed now. Many are sat on their seats texting away, on Facebook, checking scores and bets etc oblivious to what's going on on the pitch. This is happening more frequently year on year as many of the once passionate supporters have given up trying, or been priced out, leaving the more affluent yet passion free JCL "glory hunters" to sit there bemused, devoid of any affinity or passion whilst taking "look at me" selfies.

The club don't give a fuck that the atmosphere has become like that of a theatre. And I won't anymore if it continues. I'm not enjoying the hyped and so artificial match day experience bollocks anymore tbh.

Agreed, when the third tier opened against Chelsea the noise from the South Stand was defining, the acoustics are far better there than any part of the ground, get the third tier singing and it spreads.
One problem though...showsec getting people to sit down

The flipside of the new singing section in 115 is that it's killed 110 and 111.

I stood in 111 for years, and both 110 and 111 were great when they got going. And because they are at an angle facing the away fans, the banter with them was always brilliant. Properly winding each other up.

There were quite a few characters in there. Younger lads who always came out with some decent windup chants. They were always in groups, mates, so that always got the chants going.

"He's got a pie in his pocket." "Have you ever seen a TV, have you f***." Etc.

Some people will say those kind of chants aren't supporting the team, but it created banter, noise, an atmosphere, and it would windup the away fans, and caused them to react, which in-turn created more chants. It was also the place were the Poznan started. Where the inflatable Fergie c*** was shown, etc.

111 and 110 always used windup up the SS for being quiet. Now it's the other away around. Most of the time the SS is now louder than 110 and 111. That is not a pop at 110 and 111. The Arsenal and Celtic matches were the only matches I've really heard 110 and 111 this season. It was like the good old day's in-there.

This might sound mad, and I don't know if it's possible, but I think the official singing section should be relocated from 115 to either 110 or 111, if there are enough seats available? There would be more singing, and much more banter with the away fans, which in itself will improve the atmosphere at the Etihad.

Its same at every ground but like the Empty seat stick we get when we know its Bullshit the media and fans make a fucking massive meal out of nowt.
