Was near the Etihad this morning so had a ride around the stadium and then under the new bridge, past the minihad and then past the new training complex. It occurred to me that out of the tens of thousands of cars that pass through that junction every week there must be a good few thousand rags who,if I am any sort of judge of human nature, must be absolutely mortified when they see what is happening to our wonderful club. They see their own club in decline and then see the strides we are making on and off the pitch and it must fill them with envy when they realise that after all the snide remarks re HRH getting bored etc. City are going nowhere only up.
Sheik Mansoor I thank you once again.

Maybe thats what we should do with the bridge, a big fuck off sign saying " yes you rag twats he's here for the long term, not bored just yet"

Aye, hadn't realised this to your post.

For a number of years I've work near Uniteds ground and though they can't have much say on the surrounding area - it's a fucking shit hole.

Thank you Sheikh Mansour.
Ignoring the work City are doing with the new campus, the residential areas around the Etihad aren't exactly Prestbury or Mottram St Andrew. And there's a fair few run down commercial premises along Aston Old Road, just a short walk from the stadium. We're not in a position to slag off the rags for their location.

I totally agree, which is why I thanked Mr Mansour.

I think it's more to do with what we plan to do around our stadium. Bring attractions, bring jobs which brings interest in the area, associated business looking to benefit from what we've put in the area and so the area grows again like ripples in a pond. The Swamp is just sitting their with the only growth going to be in match day chippies and dodgy souvenir stalls. East Manchester will grow, OT can only look in envy at Salfors Quays and eventually the Trafford Centre tram as the traffic flows past

Aye, this^^^^^^^ is very well put in terms of how I see the surrounding area of Old Trafford.

The amount of times I've been on the bus on top deck and tourists (I know we have our own) gawp and get their camera out when Old Trafford comes into view is pure entertainment. They come all this way and unless they have a fetish for stadiums there is fuck all else to gawp at and take photos of once they've had their fill of the stadium.

Thanks to Sheikh Mansour, we can hopefully offer a hell lot more than a Ford showroom and decaying White City retrail park.

Maybe thats what we should do with the bridge, a big fuck off sign saying " yes you rag twats he's here for the long term, not bored just yet"

I quite like that idea, although it needs to be more subtly worded! Maybe also a series of signs throughout the Etihad Campus
(paid for by sub sponsors) with the emphasis being that all this area is owned by City? I dunno exactly how we do it but the potential
to both rub the Rags noses in it and make loads of money through sponsorship and tourism are immense.

Can't we get Manchester City Council to sponsor a huge "Welcome to Manchester" sign for the bridge?

Calling in a favour. ;-)

Has anyone got access to the Times on line?

Why?

Because according to Oliver Kay the Etihad Campus opens next week. See below.

Thanks.

Slightly off topic.

Any chance you could do the same with the Liverpool FC FFPR article as well. :-)

Thanks.
