I think its broadly accepted that when it comes to the Collar Site there can only really be an indoor attraction built and so I had a look at what already exists and how much land it would take up.

Here is a site that lists many of the sites that the Collar site would 'compete' with.

http://www.jeffcoy.com/documents/articles/World's Top 30 Indoor Entertainment Centers Part 1.pdf

Most are in the US and have an anchor tenant to support them.

The most likely to match what we would see on the Collar Site would be http://www.iplayamerica.com/

Edutainment is the watchword when it comes to all these things and there are of course some brands that dominate, such as Lego and Kidzania so we might see something from the latter as Lego already has a presence in Manchester.

Hmmm.

LEGO WORLD....

Anyway, remember that football world site? Any reason why it's on there?

This proposed high-tech theme park is a year-round entertainment centre celebrating the thrills, emotion and passion of football. Working in conjunction with Takenaka Architects (UK), Jack Rouse Associates is providing the theme design for this mixed-use development.

- less

Futbol World visitors will enjoy some of the world’s most innovative entertainment and educational opportunities dedicated to the sport of football while also enjoying a wide variety of exciting dining and shopping experiences.

The proposed development will consist of a 3-D action cinema highlighting the thrills of the game, a simulator experience where guests “become the ball,” a 360° cinema in which guests are the center of the game, and over 5,000 square meters of associated shopping and interactive modules.

We had a full tour of the Academy side of the CFA today. Not allowed photos as a official launch / opening coming in next few weeks. suffice to say it is a magnificent facility - probably the best academy facilities anywhere. It's geared to hard work and success . The lads (and lasses eventually I guess) will be given every opportunity to be the best in the world .

Perfect pitches , stunning age appropriate gym and rehab facilities, top class education , relaxation , accommodation and canteen provision. Very exciting.

Still won't happen overnight but the solid foundation in now fully in place .

It's gonna take a compelling reason for any local kid to choose the rags or anyone else at 9 year old now.

Unfortunately the screen on my camera is broken and I can only see half of the image on the screen, hence why some of the pictures maybe off centre and not right. Time for a new camera.(Sony RX100iii, anyone?)

The Beswick Community Hub really is taking shape. Looks great.

My thinking is that there has to be a good reason for getting staff to sign new contracts at a firm like ASDA. I would think the new contracts have an amendment that makes it better for the employer, not the employee to achieve a desired goal.

If they are signing new contracts it suggests to me that the company are planning something.

And if all of those assumptions are correct then it makes ASDA selling up MORE likely and not less likely.

Oh, I see what you're saying. I just thought he was banging on about ASDA recruiting permanent staff for the Eastlands store, which is a bit of a non-point for the reasons I put forward. However, looking at it again he says "new contracts" and "new employees", in which case I agree with you.

I dont have insight into Asda's specific contracts but a lot of the larger chains are starting to operate fixed term contracts a lot more often than perm's. Attrition rates are high in the industry anyway and fixed term rolling can avoid lots of overheads required with redundancies etc. If they operate fixed term then they would renew regularly anyway and may well know that any deal could be over 12 months in the offing and thus have no issue resigning existing staff ?
