I said a couple of months ago that I took a Japanese student on a tour of the stadium and he said that there was to be a hotel and casino on the site where Asda is...

Definitely a casino in the pipeline.

How can the casino be given the go ahead when the government knocked the plans back a while ago?
I take it it won't be a super casino type..

The super casino would have been five times the size of the biggest in the country at that point. The legislation approving it never went through, so anything we build now will presumably be much smaller.

People who work at Asda have been telling me they have not heard anything?

If it's anything like our place they will know in Timbuktu before us

By the way, it's mentioned in a thread on the EDS sub-forum, but the MCFC official Twitter feed posted earlier that today's under-18 game against Stoke would be the last played at Platt Lane. The next under-18 game is at home to Blackburn on the morning of Saturday 29 November, so are we to presume that it will be at the new mini-stadium? The official site still says 'TBC' for the venue.

There's due to be an under-21 game against Benfica next Friday (21 November) which the official site has down for Hyde. However, the under-19 game against Bayern on Tuesday 25 November is also stated as 'TBC' in terms of the venue.

I think the under 18s will now play on one of the pitches at the CFA, not in the mini stadium.

The under 21s (and under 19s for the UYL) will continue at Hyde until the mini stadium is ready, which will hopefully be in time for the Byern game.

A couple of years ago, I pulled together the following from the consultation document and planning application about the use of the small stadium:

The 7,000-seat arena will be open all year round between 09.00 to 23.00 hours with matches played at given times that will be either mid-morning or mid-afternoon starts and will in particular be used:
- For evening matches involving the youth team or Elite Development Squad, typically, on 2 days per week (likely to have in the region of 1500-2000 spectators, although there could be up to 5000-7000 for particular fixtures on about six to eight occasions per year).
- For Saturday morning games, involving crowds in the region of 1500.
- For matches with up to 200 spectators during daytime, up to five days per week, similar to current practice at Platt Lane.
- For cup finals and prominent fixtures for local clubs and schools providing a minimum of three uses per year to a maximum of ten (10).
- By an MCFC-approved amateur/community Club for specific matches

I assume the Saturday morning games are the under-18s. I believe they think that these games could pull decent crowds if played in the small stadium and want to give the kids a chance to gain experience of playing before crowds.

Now that the last ever EDS game has been played at plat lane, what will happen to that site?

Do we own it or does it belong to the council?
Council, there was no restriction on people viewing the training hence the first team moved toCarrington.

Drove past today and took a couple of pics. Shows just how big the new stand is going to be.

I'm confused. I don't see anything on there to suggest they are moving in. OK, there's a picture of Platt Lane, but there's no accompanying text at all.

Unless I'm missing something really obvious (which I might be, knowing me)...?

The official MCFC Platt Lane Twitter account have replied to someone's tweet asking what will happen to the site:

"@PlattLaneMCFC: @franko413 still be providing coaching and pitch hire to the general public"

Manchester FA have moved in to it, as I said they would months ago.
That was my one and only bit of ITK I've ever had or ever will have so I'm making sure I remind people.
