Who's paying for them (let alone the sidings!)? You do realise that the metrolink system is stretched almost to capacity at peak times so for night games you would have no chance of "loads" of trams being available just to sit in sidings and there isn't that much slack at weekends either.

A heavy rail station behind the Athletics Arena would be great but upgrading what I believe is currently a freight-only line to carry passenger traffic plus the cost of re-connecting the line with the main line into Piccadilly would be a fairly major infrastructure project not too dissimilar to the Ordsall Chord which is costing close to £100m and has a far better business case than carrying football fans once a fortnight!

A £100 mills figure might be more cost efficient if the million visitors to the campus per annum is to be believed

Sorry if this is the wrong thread for this question but: Does anyone know the attendances at the Olympic Stadium for the RUWC matches.?
They seem to have altered the Stadium - by putting a a plastic ? paneled roof on and brought the flood lights onto the roof. I know the Olympics were 80,000 sellouts
but has the capacity been reduced to say 60,000. The reason for this question is Whammers will be moving there at the start of 2016 season. They should do well -
and Tottenham are building a new Stadium to seat 60,000 so I believe - and finally Liverpool are extending their main stand by 12,000 seats - so will Anfield , Spurs and Wham
have bigger capacity (s) than the Etihad.
Long winded question - I know.

They had 6 matches at the Olympic Stadium 55,900 was the top attendance for the 3rd and 4th spot but I don't know if that was a full house.

West Ham's capacity will be 54k. They're adding retractable seats to go over the track, but some seats in the top tier will be covered, I think it's because they're too far away from the pitch. Going to be a fair few big stadiums.

So, it is inevitable that The Etihad expansion to around 62,000 seats will take place in the very near future.

Don't know if anyone has seen the pictures with the seats out but it leaves a massive gap between the levels and looks ridiculous. Even with the seats out they look a long way from the pitch

It does if it affects the atmosphere. Anyway, the thing that is going to impact this is success on the pitch. If we continue winning and growing the brand, my concerns are likely to be unfounded. Let's hope they are, for me success on the pitch is the most important thing. The rest will take of itself...

I agree. Why does anyone offering an opinion that some disagree with get labelled a rag? Piss poor blues. Fact is 62k will be fine for us for the foreseeable future. I'd love to see future expansion but the club doesn't need to rush into anything.
