[Why Always Ste]

Trams are free going to the game from the City Center.
You couldn't get a tin of peas on there never mind a ticket inspector an hour before the game.
Absolute disgrace Metrolink.
There should be designated trams to the stadium only.
I' not going to go on as it's been said time and again but the latest piece of planing involves
the withdrawal of the service from Victoria (not sure if it's the Bury or Rochdale Tram) to Ashton.
You now have to get on at Peter's Sq/The Gardens/Picc Station for the ground.

It is very frustrating and I often wonder if there is an agenda behind their poor management of the service due to its poorer operations for City matches.
It's probably coincidental and a fact they can't handle the volume increases of people but I find it so frustrating knowing that there is public transport running from my neck of the woods to the Etihad yet it's so shit I haven't used it once this season.

I am not a Manchester resident, so not paying much attention to the campaigns, but have any of the Mayoral candidates said anything about plans to improve tram services for match-going fans ? Isn't this the sort of thing a directly elected Mayor should be talking about ?

And obviously this would be relevant to fans from several clubs not just City...

In an ideal world the club would pay TFM a fixed fee and travel to and from the city centre and to designated park and rides would be free on match days - no tickets required. But there simply isn't the capacity on the system to do this - although as someone has said in the present chaos tickets are not required. If you are going to build a station at the Etihad Campus - it has to function on a match day - otherwise it's a white elephant. Saying it's fine on a none match day is a joke. It needed longer platforms, 4 car trains, sidings to station additional trams, better access to and from the platforms and some shelter from the elements wouldn't go amiss.

Fine if we had the capacity, but it's not working now if it was free it would just add to the problems. Caught the tram once after a game into town could have walked there and back two or three times while I was queueing. Not been to Holland or Germany but checking match tickets sounds chaotic, is just a free for all ?

I agree, I use the tram every day for work and that's a pain.

Never experienced a problem with it when watching city v Hamburg. Really easy and more trains to help with the service.

I believe we will be playing in a new stadium by 2030, and regardless of the recent upgrades, planned developments.

I sense an ongoing dissatisfaction it is not a sufficient centrepiece for the wider plans.

Both in terms of other planned stadia and the costs involved to get it to where they want it to be for the next generation.

i bow to your superior knowledge but that makes no sense unless its going to be the biggest and best statium in world football, hope i am around to see it will be 68 by then.
