Does this mean the North Stand is DEFINITELY being upgraded? Thought it was yet to be confirmed.
Yeah the plan was always to start it after the South Stand, just start date was tbc...

No decision on the North Stand as yet, planning permission in place but no more than that

As I thought.

They're not going to fuck around imo. They'll start work, logistics permitting, as soon as the South Stand is complete.

An asymmetrical stadium would symbolise arrested ambition.

Like Blackburn in the 90s. Three brand new stands and a cow shed.

If, as someone on another thread has tried to belittle, we have opened up the new stand to take up the movers from level 2, then we will need a north stand rebuild to take up all those on the waiting list

But what a cow shed!!! Scene of one of city's greatest congas!!

Been told there is quite a significant issue with regard to power capacity for the site and upgrades required which may impact upon any works to the North Stand. No start date imminent.

I suspect its more the collar site and other plans they are having issues with and that might impact the north stand in the meantime?

Exactly that.

It hints, rather significantly at two things

1. The final use of the collar site ( and others ) has been firmed up/decided.

2. It has become far more than the original plans envisaged.

Of course it was one of our best congas. I was in it!

Was thinking along the same lines...

Agreed.

I think that all successful business plans are reassessed every 6 months or so to refocus objectives in the light of reality.
Hopefully a case of from little acorns etc..

Any update on when the perimeter seating will be finished ? Remember reading something last year about some seats being ready in the new year but there's hardly been any work done on it since November time as far as I can tell from each match day.

middle of April the perimeter get finished in line for last 3 home games of the season they had half of east stand done but some one messed up and the blocks didn't line up so majority of it had to be ripped up to make it all level again should hopefully see some improvement on perimeter very soon

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

Just reading the thread about relocation of singers in the south stand on completion has got me thinking about what will happen to the new tier in the north stand? I know this is some time away yet but will it be an extended family stand or is it going to be a generic stand for all supporters? Any chance we could have another singing section up top to help generate a bit more noise down that end? This is in no way a dig at the north stand in anyway at all also.

Went passed the stadium last night. Missing concrete terracing was very nearly complete

Call me a stuffy old traditionalist but in my view, away supporters belong behind one goal, noisy home supporters behind the other. Teams attack the goal their own supporters are behind in the second half.

Exactly, should move family section to East or West stand and make the North Stand the home singing section

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

I see we're getting some nice new signs on top of the stadium and campus.

Also I didn't know about this:-

"The next piece of the jigsaw is likely to be the £18m new Manchester Institute of Health and Performance, billed as a ‘world class’ research and development facility for sports science and medicine.

That could include a specialist MRI scanner, sports therapy and rehabilitation for athletes.

But it is also intended to carry out public health research into how sports can help high levels of obesity and heart disease among people living in the local east Manchester community."
