Maybe they’re including visitors to Asda too :)

You’re probably right as I’d guess City probably attract just under 2m if you include concerts, rugby, events, staff, youth games, academy games & women’s games

Do you have any idea on the footfall of the other ‘attractions’ mentioned?

ha I was wondering if they had shoehorned Asda customers into their stats.

No idea of the true numbers of the other venues - but I do know the majority of the events they hold have more competitors that actual spectators.

4.5m is plucked out of thin air by wishful thinkers at these publications

When i started work at the Refuge on Oxford Street in 1960 each dept, over all 3/4 floors was connected to the mailroom by suction tubes.
Every man loves a good suction tube.

I agree there a thousands of young able people who just want to park as close as they can. I am 60 have no car and use public transport / walk with no issues before and after the game. It might take me an hour longer each way than driving but I can afford to spend that time to keep be a little fitter and no use a car to pollute the city I live in.
People who don't see it this way I always wonder why.
I enjoy walking from town as well (weather permitting) but train strikes have made my onward journey to Lancashire impossible in recent seasons, forcing me to drive. Meanwhile a proper shuttle bus service back to town would be great. It works well on most German grounds.

All very clear and sensible. However, there is nothing stopping a third party, one with money to invest, in developing parts of that infrastructure for specific needs. Why can't City buy more trams for running on match days and rent them to TFGM as required on other days? Why cant City fund 'fast routes' from the Etihad out onto the M60 in the two hours after games. I'm sure there are all sorts of improvements that could be made if the investment were available. I would like to see the club form a formal partnership with TfGM to explore the art of the possible.
More trams? Its more than rolling stock, can the system handle more frequency? Probably Who would the staff work for they will need recruiting and training then the funds for their salaries etc Can TfGM afford the cost of "renting"
Fast routes? I agree that things could be done to improve the traffic flow Traffic light timing is set for normal flow Im sure that the system could be set to give great priority to the lights for the traffic leaving The Etihad a route down Oldham Road could be set to disallow parking after the game similar to the routes they have in London Alan Turing way is closed to ensure pedestrian safety why not put fences up and build pedestrian bridges then bring the vehicles out of the carparks When the Gas Holder has gone build a road out of the carpark to Bradford Road to turn left only. You are correct simple relatively inexpensive things could be done
Use to park at top end of New Viaduct St and exit onto Bradford Road the traffic would queue to Alan Turing way because the lights are on red but Alan Turing Way is closed I use to go through on red no traffic coming Why arent these lights suspended on match day exit?

Er, for public safety.

Which bit of you've already been told why it won't work are you struggling with? Why should anyone keep repeating the same thing when you obviously just ignore it anyway?

Who mentioned being (or not) a City fan BTW?

Edit: if you do work in that field as you put it, how come you've never put any workable ideas forward?
You're coming across as a bit of a **** mate, leave it out

I didn’t suggest we should try and replicate it. I was just pointing out what Everton and Liverpool have to the guy who said Liverpool have virtually no public transport to Anfield.

Manchester doesn’t really have a comparable transport system to Merseyrail, where everyone could head to one convenient point for a connecting bus.
