Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Have we slightly missed a trick with our expansion not doing it sooner to be inline with the arena opening? Lots of people already will be looking for hotel rooms, places to eat and drink etc?
You are spot on just look at Hydro in Glasgow which has seven hotels next to it and that is a smaller arena as well, the club have missed a massive trick here. A lot of people who travel from far away for the football will use the hotel also.
The club should have come out with their masterplan for the whole area, there is plenty of land around that could be used for other hotels etc.
The club think people are going to stay after the game or concert, why the game or the concert is the destination, they would be only staying to go the hotel. Also, surrounding the hydro there are bars, a science centre, 2xcrazy golf courses, a ten-pin bowling alley and food outlets.

The club needs to look at what Wembely have done to make the area a destination but drip-feeding buildings is not going to help the area

I think the clubs could have got shops bars hotels done years ago or at least inline with the opening of the Arena. However from what’s been discussed on here they won’t something special that takes time you need to find the right partners and billions of £. The economy has not helped in recent years either the pay off tho will be worth it with much bigger ghee profits long term

You still realise a masterplan for the area, this would build hope and vision and create a destination in people's heads a place to visit, all the area is just now is a concert venue and football stadium, there is no reason to go there during the day or night when a game or concert is on. It's about attracting footfall to the area, for example, if there was a designer outlet there it would attract people to visit the area during the day, if there was a cinema there people would go and see films if there were restaurants people would visit to go and eat, if there where community facilities people locally would visit.

If you create a destination it helps bring money into the local economy.

Here is a big issue, they want to build the COOP live arena, and reviews come in an amazing arena, a nightmare to leave from, within a couple of years COOP arena struggles to fill the arena, and this is an issue.

By not having an overarching master plan, you cannot build the right infrastructure to support what you are building because the roads can't handle that amount of traffic etc.

This drip-feeding of what they doing at the site will not work and this is causing major issues elsewhere, what do you Manchester City Council say at the meeting where is your masterplan for the area, same with a meeting with the transport people?

He is a masterplan that creates a designation for an area

What a load of absolute bollocks you write.

‘Nightmare to leave from. Within a couple of years the Co-Op struggles to fill the arena’

Absolute fucking nonsense. For 99% of the concerts there will be no football so you have a metro , huge car parks within a 2 minute walk, taxis and walkable to town.

There may be a 4 or 5 concerts that’s clash with football that it will harder. Maybe just 1 or 2 with close start and end times.

Yet you think this will lead to the arena being empty.

Clueless.

But from what posters on here are saying there is a plan. It’s just not public and they are trying to find the right partners elements are changing based on economics and other factors.

Your post seems to be small time compared to what people on here have suggested your thinking shops bars restaurants hotels.

People on here are thinking world leading entertainment perhaps linked to sport and education. Basically Disney but socially responsible and connected to sport

I am fairly sure the experts at the club and partners and the council have looked at transport issues before approving the development where is the original posters expertise analysis or data ?
