Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Other than all of that, just knock the Etihad down and start all over again.

We can share with United for 2 season’s. ;-)

Everton’s proposed new stadium.

CGI fly through.

Dat’s boss dat, as they’d say

The tweet says "proposed designs", plural. I take it that means this is only one option being considered, not the chosen design?

52,000 is smaller than Anfield. WTF are they thinking of? Just build it bigger now and save all the upheaval of expanding it again.

Everton unveil plans for a new stadium at least once a fortnight, it’s not news until they actually start building one.
Just getting themselves primed for writing off £50m for stadium plans to pass FFP in case make top 4 like their neighbours did.

£500m for 12,000 more seats? Is that worth it?
Definitely.

Have you been to Goodison? It’s the worst ground in the country.

When we left Maine Road for just 12000 extra seats, two of the stands were pretty much brand new, the North Stand was only 30 years old and had no obstructed views whatsoever, and even the oldest stand had a roof that was only 20 years old by the time we left and had just two pillars that obstructed views.

Of all the grounds any clubs has left in recent decades (The Del, Philbert St, Roker Park, Ayresome Park, The Baseball Ground, Highbury, WHL...) Maine Road was by far the best stadium in the best condition of the lot (maybe on a par with the Boleyn Ground to be fair).

Maine Road was miles better than Goodison, in fact until the new stand was built recently, Maine Road was better than Anfield. Until their new stand opened, there were something like 25 obstructed views at Anfield. Even now there are more than Maine Road had when we left. You can’t even see the sides of the pitch from the back of the Kop. And Goodison is a joke. There won’t be one Everton fan who isn’t up for this move.

I know it's bad, but £500m for 12,000 extra seats? Remember Maine Rd. We made a right pigs ear of re-building it, but that is also an option. We knocked the Kippax down and rebuilt it. Likewise Platt Lane.

They are effectively spending 42k on each new seat, and I bet the working capacity is less than 52k

Would this mean Stockport County will no longer be the closest ground to the Mersey?

With all these brand new stadiums happening , I wonder if the owner will want to build a bigger and better one than the Etihad sooner rather than later? We will want to have the best stadium in England and the seemingly enormous cost of expanding the Etihad might not make it viable?

Precisely. City went to COMS for about £100m cost to MCFC. Of that order.

Yeah we did get it on the cheap. I just think it’s a no brainier for Everton.

They’re never going to break into the elite with Goodison as their ground. A new ground like they’ve planned will take them forward immeasurably. Decent investment further down the line will be easier to entice with the new stadium.

The only minor problem with the fantastic new stadium Everton have showcased is that they currently have no means of financing it. They have been putting out stadium plans for years but they are still at Goodison.
And their biggest problem is the disgraceful FFP rules which will make it almost impossible for any new investor. Anyway I wish them luck. It would be great if they could mount a proper challenge to their self-entitled neighbours. I am sure LFC will do everything they can do to stop Everton just like the dirty tricks campaign they have mounted against City.

They will change FFP once they can't clobber City with them
Just like they have just done with the wages now seen at the swamp.
