Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Proud Mum & Dad moment! My son's resin business T&A Resin has replaced the City badge outside the main entrance, Colin Bell stand. We are all blues so this is more of a honour than a job, and he has smashed it - looks fantastic! We are season card holders so will be walking over this before every match, cannot believe it! Mind blowing and mega complex.View attachment 131631

Absolutely class that. Things like that make such a big difference to the place. Enough has been said over the years about how dull and grey the stadium looks at times, and the banners around the spirals just look a cheap token gesture. I can't criticise the owners for lack of investment whilst they expend on the NS expansion, but maybe when that's done a few more home improvements would be worthwhile.

Everton’s new stadium is basically red all the way around it.

I’d be livid if I was a Toffee but they don’t seem to be arsed about it.

Incredible to me this was the design and colour they went with.

To be fair it's the typical design rationale you'd see on a project like this. The red is sympathetic to the surrounding areas, a bit like how City have red brick on the hotel as a nod to the victorian heritage of Manchester. You don't see many blue bricks! Maybe they could have used the Mersea as justification for the Everton colours, but that's not blue either!

For me colours really matter when it comes to any sports team.
With City blue is us, who we are, and I imagine Everton fans would feel the same.
I don’t own anything red ha!

So having their new stadium all decked out in red? That’s shocking to me. The designers are messing with their identity.
Everton are blue, Liverpool are red.

Can you imagine walking up to a stadium that doesn’t even match your team’s colours? It just doesn’t sit right at all with me.

Well you'll be walking up to an expanded Etihad with red brick in the not too distant future. The big LED screens and City colours elsewhere will mean you'll hardly notice. I would imagine there's plenty of blue at Everton's ground once it's done.

Doesn't have to completely match the kit. I wouldn't want the whole ground to be red, but when it comes to brickwork as I said you're unlikely to get away with blue bricks.

Luckily not our ground to worry about.
