Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

There are plenty of Season Ticket holders (two next to me) who often fail to show for midweek matches. I am in Block 232.
That is true but it does not affect the phenomena of sell-outs and empty seats.

Seasoncards relate to league games. How many midweek home league games are there? One maybe two a season. The phenomena that people have noticed is groups of seats that are empty when the game is sold out. If a long-distance seasoncard holder has decided not to go to midweek Cup games then their seat is on sale. 99% of people behave rationally when it comes to money so I don't believe there are people paying for seats and not turning up. That happens a lot at Man Utd Cup games. I know that from discussing this with a City steward who works at both clubs. That problem relates to their policy of automatically charging their season-ticket holders for midweek Cup games, but those tickets are all over and sprinkled throughout the ground. What you notice in City's South stand is little groups of empty seats that are clearly not seasoncard seats.

I think City have concessions for academy players, staff, sponsors, visiting youth teams etc and sometimes they don't show, or leave halfway through a game as happened right on the front of the stand behind the goals a few weeks ago. I expect this is going on right around the ground and probably at every ground in the country but we notice it more in that stand because we are sensitive to it, and city probably operate more concessions in that stand than elsewhere because they are the cheapest seats. Historically I think City have probably been quite relaxed about giving concessions as we are a community club and we had a big stadium but now the pressure on seats is much greater than it was historically was but City are locked into past behaviour.

I thought we had established that the little blocks of empty seats have got little to do with City season ticket holders.

Perhaps a few more families are no shows on a midweek night, but I think the major reason for the smattering of empty blocks are the concessions, staff, academy, sponsors etc who are allocated seats but don't show. We had a block of about 50 seats who were there at a recent home game all with tracksuits etc, and who never showed up in the 2nd half.

It’s been established but not comprehended it seems .

But the constant empty seats are nothing to do with the FS as they are club seats , yes there will be a percentage of people in all stands that can’t make every game. And probably more so in the fs of a evening with children’s welfare taking president over a football match.

The club seem to put the OAPs in that section too it may be there policy, it certainly was at MR , so yes there are not all families with kids

How can you give 8/10k people a tiny section in one of the stands, or how can you fit 2 stands worth of people into one. Your math doesn’t add up.

City put on a few things at the back of the family stand which is great for the kids (well done city) You think it’s fine to half the number of the family stand . (Which is what you are suggesting in the 2 into one stand )
Every Premier League club has to have a family stand. It is part of Premier League regulations. I forget now whether it has to be a physically separated area or whether the club is just obliged to offer discounts for families. A lot of people seem to be confusing coincidence and cause i.e. blaming the operation of a Family Stand for a phenomena they see in that stand but it is one that is unlikely to have anything to do with the operation of a family stand but other practises that City are operating in that stand, and other stands too.

That will be me..

Unfortunately real life prevents me and my lad from attending the majority of night games . The seats go back to the club when posable who mostly fail to shift them on and I can’t even give them away for free.

I imagine as a pensioner you have a bit more time on your hands then those in the work force.

You do know your one of the ones some of the loons on here are trying to shift without regards to where they put you. Plus a lot of them think you shouldn’t be that stand as you don’t have kids.

Not all 8,000 will move. As we have established not all are families in that stand.

Your right they do a lot, but now they are doing more and more before game outside the stadium and inside the CFA is their really a need for at the back of the stand. And yes i have 2 children before the Do you kids comment gets thrown back.

Sections across all 3 tiers, on two sides of the ground will fit in fans.

The empty seats are season ticket holders in that stand the cause of empty seats or CITC tickets not being used for specific games.

I think your next home game has just got a bit more interesting, lol.

Not too bothered about Stadium expansion but would like to see the stadium and particularly the area outside get a make over. Getting a bit tatty in places.

Lol, will be a night game I’ll not be there -)

No disrespect meant, as I think this gent travels from Edinburgh week in week out with his Mrs and iv comended him many a time on here in other threads for doing so.

Dose grind my gears though when ppl that have no insite to others lifestyles and circumstances judge others who have to prioritise things , not that I’m suggesting that the poster is judging just them that do in general.
