Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Not too bothered about Stadium expansion but would like to see the stadium and particularly the area outside get a make over. Getting a bit tatty in places.

True, simple issue but when it rains the place floods and large puddles form as parts of the groundwork have sunk.

Not all 8,000 will move. As we have established not all are families in that stand.

Your right they do a lot, but now they are doing more and more before game outside the stadium and inside the CFA is their really a need for at the back of the stand. And yes i have 2 children before the Do you kids comment gets thrown back.

Sections across all 3 tiers, on two sides of the ground will fit in fans.

The empty seats are season ticket holders in that stand the cause of empty seats or CITC tickets not being used for specific games.

It looks like the club band the OAPs in with the families going off the demographic around me, as they did at MR so you are right they are not all families with kids but still classed as family stand members. If you left them there there would be the problem of them not being able to stand and sing which is kinda going against this eutopion wall off sound that people want. Plus I’m sure they wouldn’t be happy not being able to see the game.

I’ll be honest iv never used the facilities that they have at the back of the stand other then 10 min here and there in city sq watching what’s going on stage. Lads done the bit of training across the road a couple of times and yes this is great interaction from the club. Looks like they are thinking of the long game and future fan base. With that inmined I’d be surprised if they didn’t give full consideration to the family stand and am confident we won’t be shafted with a move to some obscure part of the ground.
what dose it matter how much they do for the kids at the back of the stands, unless it’s directly affecting your match day experience then let them be.

Again on a weekend fixture there would not be any difference with the % of no showes ST holders in the FS then there are in any other section of the ground. The club tickets are the obvious problem that makes it look 10 times worse. Evening fixtures then the transport and car parking system needs to be sorted too and from the ground then maybe they would get a few more turning up. But again on cup games who’s to say thease are no showes and not just unsold tickets.

I think you would realistically have to move between 5/10k people to accommodate a new home end section and then have to move the same to acomadate them,
If it was guaranteed to bring this amazing atmosphere like Dortmund I’d be open to it within reason but seeing just a few hundred band together when the 1894 group ask to get a singing section together for cup games doesn’t fill me with hope of putting a wall of sound in the North.
I’d love to see it bouncing like it did on so many acasions at MR in the old Kippax, Platt lane , and North stand .... god even the Maine stand had a decent voice on its day.

There's a bottleneck at Piccadilly and through the city centre. They could send more trams and line up as many as they want, you'd still end up queuing to get into Piccadilly, you'd just be sat on a tram going nowhere instead. The solution needs to send supporters in a different direction.

City won't spend loads of money on new track just for 25-30 days a year of use as it stands at the moment, and the council/tfgm won't pay for it while it works (I assume) for 340 days a year. The cheapest route I can think of would be to run a line from Asda up ATW, right onto Oldham Road and left into Central Park. A distance of 1.6miles but opens up trams to Rochdale and possibly Bury (if they are able to run "football specials" via the Engineering works at Queens Rd). Phase 1 Metrolink cost around £6million per km based on 2004 prices, so we're looking at possibly upto £30million I reckon for a really short route. When there's more happening at the collar site, then maybe a share of the cost between City and the council/tfgm could be considered.

There can be up to 10-15 mins between trams and single instead of double units at times. That’s not a bottle neck, that’s a lack of capacity. Ultimately extra lines may help but I can’t accept the current service delivery is anywhere near good enough

Said it a million times.... If you're not disabled there is no excuse for using the tram v walking back to the city centre.

Should definitely put the money into tarting the exterior of the stadium up ASAP. Wasn’t there rumors of a led wrap?

It stills not far, you just might be going in the wrong direction lol. The poster didn't mention Ashton though he said walking v tram to City center.
Like that one lol. Seriously though, any stadium expansion will only exacerbate existing pfoblems. I myself want the site developed as much as possible but the transport services need addressing. I have the Metro season ticket, but because I stay to the end it makes use of the fast lane futile. So I myself walk back to town and pick the tram up from there. But that's because it's quicker than queueing. It's been mentioned before but if possible lay extra trams on to get folk away quicker.
