Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

If there was a bus lane it'd only be a 10 minutes into town. You wouldn't need 60 buses if they were doing a few trips each. When one is full off it goes and comes back.

I would of though of a smaller tier to incorporate all the family stand ticket holders and a larger tier for safe standing?

Make the middle tiers of the stand - safe standing and the blocks on each side seating. The family stand can then take up as many seated blocks as required and those who want to stand behind the goal can - and hopefully generate a good atmosphere.

I am all for safe standing so the people who want to stand can stand there. I want to sit, as my legs won't cope with standing for 10 minutes, let alone 90. Which is why I never dream of going to away matches or Wembley and pick my Etihad seats with great care.

I remember at the Cup Final against Stoke sitting next to a chap who must have been 75 plus. So bloke in front insisted on standing and poor guy saw nothing of the game. A few including me explained the situation but Mr Selfish just told us all to fuck off and said it was the older guys fault if he couldn’t stand. Left a nasty taste that - it’ll be better when it’s clear where you either stand or sit and people can chose accordingly.

Imagine if City considered converting the Etihad into a concert/convention arena and building a brand new, custom built stadium next to it!

Yeah, forced seating in all areas of the ground has caused issues like this for 25 years now! Over what was all a lie, while other sports (Rugby) continued to be able to stand still. Long over due the introduction of Safe Standing,

Be great news if the north stand is expanded and with safe standing and cheap season tickets. That would be greatly improve the atmosphere at the stadium.

The MMU Sports Campus and Rugby League Performance Centre will both be on the west side of the Campus just beyond the North Stand. With regard to those developments, the last we heard was that they were negotiating with the property holders to buy up the properties on the Edwin Road industrial estate and putting together detailed plans. These two projects are due for completion in the summer of 2021.

I noted that, originally, the official site of the RL World Cup, an event due to be held in autumn 2021, had suggested the Etihad as a likely venue, proclaiming the capacity as 60,000. But a while back, when the venues were selected, our ground didn't feature. Instead, Old Trafford is in there.

So could we perhaps be looking at applying for planning permission sometime in the autumn of 2020, beginning preparatory works in the spring of 2021 as the MMU and RL developments near completion? Then might the main phase of construction begin in the summer of 2021 with completion scheduled for 2022, City Square having already been relocated or reconfigured beforehand in parallel with the MMU and RL works?

I've no idea about the practical issues that might impact on a project like this, however. If the above is likely to be bollocks, could someone who knows what they're talking about please highlight it as such?

When the north stand is done can we finally do something with the 4 corners which look a complete shambles?!
