Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

That will take some maintaining. The one at the campus is practical and does it really matter how the outside looks as long as it is clean and tidy.
In that case it doesn't matter how any structure looks as long as it is clean and tidy, including the Etihad ;-)
Are you an architect?
Btw, I have been to the Glasgow Hydro many times and it is stunning both inside and out. Never considered the window cleaning though. Very remiss of me.

Have you worked that out as City receiving those numbers? You have to account there’s 3 parties involved in this… Harry Styles owns a minority share so let’s guess 10%, that leaves 90% left split between City and Oak View Group’s who are joint venture partner and investors. So City’s potential income is 45% of profit made. it’s still a huge income but it won’t be the money some are thinking.
However, if City have been clever hear they’ll be leasing the land and making more money there on top of any venue revenue.
Tell you what though, Harry Styles has his head screwed on getting involved in this… Credit where it’s due he’s set himself up for a nice retirement fund. I wonder what the hospitality suites or boxes will cost.

ADUG own the land in the joint venture with Manchester City Council.

CFG entered a partnership with Oak View Group in summer 2019 re the development. Oak View, until this announcement, were fully funding the project without any tax subsidies (common in other countries for developments of this type) but there will be other investors involved and not just Harry Styles.

It was always the case CFG would be making money from the land. CFG and MCC are landlords and will derive income from the lease agreement which is split t 80% CFG and 20% MCC.

As you say, with this new announcement, we will also be generating additional £mils. I wouldn't like to hazard a guess as to how much.

@tolmie's hairdoo righty suggested this was huge. Presumably CFG will be looking for similar arrangements as the remainder of the campus is developed.

I should also add CFG (in association with Silver Lake) are leading the way amongst football clubs/groups in terms of e-commerce. This is never reported and >99% of football supporters, the main stream media etc are blind to the potential future income streams.

As supporters we better get used to the idea that in the years ahead, as the flagship for CFG, we will be far and away the biggest and wealthiest in the world. UAE sponsorship might continue for City/CFG but this will be a splash in the ocean relative to all other CFG income streams.

Meanwhile, the likes of Delaney, Rory Smith, Tariq Panja, the Harris twins and all the broadsheets like the Guardian etc peddle their shit that our "project" is all about sportswashing to the exclusion of any business/investment motive.

I believe the total investment in the project comes to approaching 300m I’d be surprised if young Harry was stumping up 10per cent of that. Thats a lot of watermelon and sugar. I think he’s probably in for something more like 5 percent and happy to do a lot of good pr in lieu of some investments cash. Even so a very good investment and clearly the boy knows this, so credit to him.

I really don’t think my numbers will be too far out. As tolm says a new cash tap being turned on in around 2 years time!

Also keep in mind average ticket prices for top gigs these days are north of £50 a ticket and vip/ hospitality for a top performer £250-350 each. I could see at least 100 events per year prob more like 120. With silverlake having invested as well in cfg we will have the pick of most of the big performers. Think we’ll be getting jay z, Coldplay etc whilst the ao arena gets teletubbies on tour. They won’t even get mr tumble on tour as he’s a blue lol. These investments are strategically linked and very very savvy. We just need metrolink to play ball and it’s all good. Failing that let’s just buy 100 electric buses and embarrass metrolink by providing our own much better service, we could even loan them out for extra revenue.

As you say we are mostly blind to the potential of the developing e-commerce.
I am blind to what it defines so please educate me, sorry to be so lacking in modern jargon.

It's hugely important, it' will be an iconic venue and the exterior would be far better if it looked iconic rather than a box.

Look at the Sydney opera house, one of the most iconic structures in the world, even though the interior is very underwhelming.

Presumably CFG can use any income from the arena to spend on infrastructure or academies because that is exempt from FFP in its current form. On top of that we should be able to sell joint music/football sponsorships that will contribute to direct club revenues. So long term it could free up more cash to spend on the squad.
It's a fantastic business model which can be replicated in New York, China etc etc. No wonder our commercial rivals are shitting themselves. We could use the arena for NBA Basketball for example. Perhaps even a CFG team. Instead of slagging us off our rivals should be rising to the challenge.
They are afraid very afraid. :-)
