Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

I've tried to read bits of this thread over the years, I saw it once mentioned that the stadium itself was due for a refurbishment on the outside and maybe the roof.

Is this going ahead?

Also, any whispers of a full roof at any point?

I'll post the other pictures tomorrow morning.

Digging holes everywhere explains why they didn't bother sorting out any of those areas around City Square / JMW in the last year.

Building a new North Stand and a new under a roof City Square/Plaza where the club shop is. Development starts in the next few months. These works are just to confirm what the ground is like where they’ll be constructing.
Really? Not seen any plans or even any official announcements. Has there been any?

It's time to get excited! :-)

Taken numerous pictures.

I've wrote everything down. (thank you to the security guard inside the City store for lending me his pen)

I've measured the distances between the soil testing rigs with my shoes. ;-) Lol!

I'll try and get the info posted today at some point. Maybe some of the pictures as well? (been in work since 4am and straight to the Etihad) If I don't post all the pictures today, I'll definitely post them all tomorrow morning.

Yes (apparently) to the external cladding although no one is saying in what form. The NS roof will obviously be replaced but there's no news on E or W roofs yet.

We've had a full roof since we moved in by the way, was it still an athletics stadium the last time you were there? :)

10.5. I'll work it out tomorrow. :-)

Think there are 1 or 2 oversights tarmacked or not, as I was knackered.

Looking from Joe Mercer Way/the Mosaic, anti-clockwise around the souvenir store.

1. Next to and to the right of the Joe Mercer Mosaic- fenced off area - long slender hole tarmacked
2. Opposite the Metrolink queuing rails - fenced off area - ground not tested yet.
3. In-between the Blue Moon Bar and the store - fenced off area - *P36 soil rig onsite*.
4. Under the Blue Moon bar canopy - fenced off area - long slender hole tarmacked - sprayed markings in different colours.
5. In-front of the City Square stage - fenced off area - ground tested.
6. Left of City square - fenced off area - ground tested.
7. Between the end of the Mike Summerbee Bar and the souvenir store - fenced off area - ground not tested yet.
8. Side of the souvenir store - fenced off area - ground not tested yet.
9. Front of Mike Summerbee Bar - fenced off area - ground tested.
10. Side of Mike Summerbee Bar - fenced off area - ground not tested yet.
11. In-front of the back of the store - fenced off area - ground not tested yet.

Etihad - possible North Stand expansion?

12. Between the Etihad and City Square, to the right of City Square - *soil testing rig onsite* - no visible make or markings on the rig - different from the other 3 rigs.
13. In-front of entrance Z1 - fenced off area - *P34 soil rig onsite.
14. In-front of entrance A2 - fenced off area - *P35* soil rig onsite.

15. Holding area - Geotechnical Ground Investigation Services - 3 vans + 1 truck (open/flat back) - https://geoeng.co.uk/

@HelloCity Maybe this is what they are doing sorry for the shit drawing

NS- North Stand Expansion
City Plaza - A dual-purpose area that can be used by people using the stadium and COOP Live with either the club shop and museum or bars and restaurants. There would also be a new staircase built from the tram stops to the bridge giving access to COOP live
CS+M -Club Shop and Museum
Hotel- Hotel, Offices, Bars, Apartments, Cinema etc

This is purely a suggestion

Thanks for the reply.

Haha, badly worded by me, obviously meant a retractable roof. Etihad used to sponsor a stadium in Melbourne which had one.

Howdo. I’ve not been on this forum for a good while.. although I’ve been a member for quite a number of years now.
@jrb it was me you asked a few questions of just before you left the campus today.. just thought I’d say hello.

Looks to me like all those rags & dippers were right, The owners have got bored with running little old city, they are now drilling for oil in East Manchester & when they find it they will close us down & build a oil refinery?

Regardless of any stadium expansions, I wish they would sort out the failed blue lights on the top of the stadium. There should be a huge revamp with bright blue LED lights running around the entire roof of the stadium so it can be seen from miles away.

Rumoured to be a full led wrap going around the exterior mate
