Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

We will not see major investment in transportation for around 30 matches a year. The cost of rail transport initiatives are eye-wateringly high. It will not stack up for use one day out of every 11 for a maximum of three hours each day. It would be cheaper to run free shuttle taxis to convey people from and to Piccadilly Station.

Of course if the other activities on the Campus can expand the use of public transport dramatically, then this calculation may change.
The arena will have 20,000 plus attendances for probably four or five days a week. It will have wrestling, music, boxing, and other big events. The Campus is growing and hundreds more houses are being built in the area. Co-op Live will be a bigger capacity than the O2 Arena in London. The authorities will have to sort out the transport on safety grounds alone.

When the South Stand was built we were selling out every league game with a surplus demand for 6k+ extra tickets.

When we sell out the expanded stadium there isn’t a demand for thousands more tickets after the current capacity is met apart from the really big games.

We also lost around 2k seats in the summer and haven’t sold out a couple of league games even at a reduced capacity.

We’re actually losing fans coming to games rather than gaining them at the moment due to Covid, pricing, ticket policies and fans jacking it in for other reasons as well.
Ok can agree with what your saying but there is a big but in all this when I was at Maine rd we got 65000 for the derby games and apart from swales fiddling of the books we had just has many against the londerers scoucers and a few more. So if I’m reading this right and we have lost fans through age and so on your not telling me we haven’t got has many fans now or even more to enable us to build an extension to the ground.? I think it’s a bit short sighted that some on here don’t think we can’t fill a expanded stadium. Pretty sure the majority of readers on here would love it.

We don't have a waiting list for season tickets, we've not been overwhelmed by applications for any home games, other than when Pep threw his toys out of the pram before Southampton.

We only actually 'sell out' the usual games, Liverpool, United, and the really big CL games. We may have a run on tickets for the final home match but that's about it.

Any extension of the North Stand would be quite pointless in the current climate. The club will be aware of that and should be reluctant to carry out expensive work

I think we could almost certainly expect to see the club invest in very significant improvements all round the stadium if we were to join a Super League.

That's what City and other elite European clubs will still be planning for. It will happen, it's just a matter of time.

I think (might not be correct, but it's just something I've noticed this season) that the reason we are not selling out is we are down by maybe 3 to 4k non UK tourist 'fans'. I used to notice a lot of European, Middle East and Asian fans sat around me, used to have a chat with quite a few giving them some history and background on us, but obviously due to the current travel issues it's not easy to travel to the UK as a tourist.
I think once travel and tourism 'get back to the norm' then demand for tickets will bring sell outs on a regular basis.
If this is a good thing or not as regards to the half and half scarf brigade making up the attendance is another debate. As in the short term they are the only extra fans over our core who will take up the extra seats until the new younger City fans become paying adult supporters

That's actually incorrect. We virtually sell out every game, including the Southampton game (which was the first one after the summer holiday period). The overwhelming majority of tickets listed on Ticket Exchange got sold for that game. The seats left unsold tend to be single ones.

The problem is that people who have tickets don't turn up and don't list or transfer them. There is definitely demand.

We would sell out most games if prices were reasonable
Games like Burnley ,Brentford & night games in Winter when the demand won't be great why Not introduce new fans and encourage casual fans to come by doing some special offers
We shouldn't be to proud for some games do kids for a quid or family of 4for £20
We have lost fans over the years for many reasons and as of yet not worked hard enough to get more fans into the stadium

Interesting few pages. The roof is absolutely fucked. Inside it a mess of sodden pulp as it has leaked and was originally a timber build up internally. The roof is coming up to 21 years old now. Can’t see how a reclad and re roof works on our lob sided stadium though. Not beyond the realms of man to entice 6000 more fans in but the return on investment won’t stack up.

I think the 'don't list' crowd are the main problem. I suspect the majority of them only have a season card for the big games and have been doing the same thing for years.
I know that the club are looking at removing SC from fans who don't list tickets they don't intend to use... I'm not saying they won't do it at some point, but I'll believe it when I see it.
I'll take your word for selling out 'virtually'. What I mean is large demand for tickets. We just about 'virtually' sell out and I suspect we would not attract an extra 10k in more than 3 or 4 games in a season... particularly after Pep leaves. He's the magnet for tourists etc.

I'm absolutely sure that a Super League is nailed on within the next 5 or 6 years. That's when we'll sell out every game and have more demand than we've ever seen.

100% correct. Families are the future.
