I find it hard to believe the area is worse now compared to the late 70s when I worked on Grey Mare Lane. It was total bandit country then. One of the toughest areas in Manchester and infested with United fans.My in-laws (Lifelong Blues) and various friends and family lived on that estate, in the nearby terracces of Isca St, and Fort Beswick too most of their lives.
Yes it was 'characterful'. 'Rough as fuck' if you like ... but it was still mainly a decent community.
Its a cliché but they really did look after their own.
That changed with the policies of the last 20 years or so... its now divided and far more lawless.
That's thanks to the council.
Utter twunts.

It’s only taken two decades to make some decent use of that land!

Man City must listen to fan warnings as they chase Treble rewards
Manchester City can appeal to fans all over the world but there will be consequences if they ignore their loyal supporterswww.manchestereveningnews.co.uk
Really good podcast from Ian Cheesman again, @jrb @Manchester33 @trevorriley
Pep wants support and noise from the fans
Seems that Danny Wilson and his fellow directors are going the opposite way. I bet there still has not been a meeting about the corporate area in the new North Stand.
Well done to Ian Cheesman for doing this, what does he get back banned from interviews in the ground
@halfcenturyup you are so spot on, fans make a club. No point in the chairman coming out saying we have amazing execs if they can't do there jobs rightAn interesting listen. What the club needs to realise is that being the "best off the field" doesn't just mean making as much money as they can. It also includes raising the bar on fan involvement, fan relations and fan atmosphere. This is where they are falling down. Which is a shame.
