Well said Supercity 88, regarding Centurion's point I am not a yank and I am a city fan but a fan that can see both sides and does not have a blinkered view of how to move the club forward for the future.I think we're in safe hands when it comes to creating a destination. To quote Jurgen Klopp loosely - "them Arabs know what they're doing". We'll be well aware of the development potential and the ability to cash in on the Coop Arena and create a range of restaurant/cafe/entertainment facilities which, alongside hotels, will attract larger numbers of visitors.
It's not the most attractive place in the world, but a good quality block paving, some tree-planting and a range of covered outdoor and indoor bars/restaurants will instantly improve things.
As for the North Stand expansion itself, I still hold out hope for a home end with a single tier or two tiers, but I remain doubtful. Having said that, the club will want to keep growing and realistically the side stands are where you can maximise hospitality revenue. People want to be side on to the game if they're spending big money, not behind a goal. I do believe the East and Colin Bell will be expanded in the future and as a result the stadium will be much more atmospheric. If the club did nothing other than changed the roof angle it would instantly improve atmosphere. You'd end up with a roof that wraps around the bowl and retains noise and it would be spectacular. The corners have been designed to be removable and you can see from the South Stand expansion how that could tie in along the sides. We're miles off that yet but shouldn't panic too much if we don't get a single tier. Spurs isn't particularly loud despite having one and the Etihad has been rocking for plenty of games despite not being designed to retain noise.

Regarding Northern Dave's point, the MLS does have ultra fans, but the NFL does not
JRB is spot on with most of his points regarding the stadium, the EPL is the most competitive league in the world but does not have the best atmosphere except Cyrstal Palace which has embraced and has an ultra section, look at Germany, Austria, Scotland, and Denmark, for example, they are embracing this and it makes the game a better spectacular in the stadium and on TV look at our recent champions league game the commentators spoke about the Copenhagen fans at length and the noise they were making.
I agree with Northern Dave's comments about City Square but this all depends on what they do with the North Stand, regarding the food and drink prices, they should stay low.
There are a lot of things we can learn from other countries and sports and stadiums around the world, how do you think they came up up the Etihad Campus training ground they visited our sites around the world, same can be said for the new North Stand.
Look at Everton's new stadium they are copying the Yellow Wall idea at one end of the ground and the goalline bar from Spurs, because they are a rival team they not going no we can't do that, they did it because it works and makes money and makes a better atmosphere
Regarding the MLS again every new stadium they build has a mini copy of the Yellow Wall with different names and that is where their ultra fans go.
I wonder if anybody has calculated the capacity of our stadium without seats and and the old barriers on the terraces similar to maine rd in the 30’s?
In Ultra I mean people like 1894 9(not the Italian one)if you watch the video above they are called the 3252 and they talked to the club and have their own stand (safe standing section) mini yellow wall they also have their own supporters bar because the club has engaged with them. As a club, we need to have an open discussion about what the North Stand should feature most fans want a two-tier stand with the lower stand being an elevated safe standing section for the 1894 and other fans that want to sing and wave flags etc and the top tier becoming a massive section that features the cheapest seat in the ground. Internally the new stand would feature a goalline bar with an in-house brewery and club shop and a newly redesigned City Square. This ultra label just isn't going to happen at City. But I'm not going to get too concerned by what that actually means. In Italy it's the hardcore fans and there's a violent element to it. Over here it's not been something that's been followed particularly closely. The Palace ultras are generally pretty good. They're a small section and have their flags/banners etc and have come up with a lot of good songs which the rest get behind. The drum they can leave behind though, not having a drum at City. It's pointless. Palace in the FA Cup semi at Wembley were pretty incredible - youtube videos available. That was their "we support the Palace, the Palace the Palace and that's the way we like it, we like it, we like it" which was bouncing across their entire support. It's a catchy song most get caught up in.
At Selhurst they're in a small section of the Holmesdale in the corner of the lower tier and they usually get the side stand involved and the rest of the Holmesdale too at times. They also tend to follow the game and it's not just a constant drone of a drum and background noise like you get from the German teams.
I like the more organic noise that reflects the game. You get that at the Etihad plenty of times. When we played Liverpool back in 2019 for example. I still remember the Hamburg fans banging their drum and making a racket until Blue Moon rang around the ground (without the stadium playing it) and stopped to look around them stunned by the noise. Renditions of "Come on City" everytime the team needed a rise. Booing every touch of the opposition, pressuring the ref to give decisions in our favour. That's what the point of good support is. Banging a drum isn't going to get traction but having a group of likeminded fans with flags/banners that start songs is definitely something the 1894 group have tried to do. Unfortunately, they should have ended up taking the 3rd tier where the noise would have carried better - but they'd have lost the pitchside area which is better for flags visually.
Just thinking that the majority of fans on this thread seem to want a single tier (YELLOW WALL), if they built on who would be the idiot with the drum and megaphone
You?giving City the 12th man is what is needed as city fans we all get shouted down for the emptyhad jokes but as a fanbase, you don't help yourself.
You?
Don’t you mean we?
