Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Only that the 'souvenir shop' is being moved, there won't be a big end and that the Asda may be utilised as both leisure and parking option.
I've not been on this thread for a while. I think the days of Covid destroying the momentum and people not mixing together but a hex on the excitement, but the COOP live looks impressive.
Interesting to hear the ASDA plot mentioned again.

I also you fanning the flames of this thread in the early days Tolm!
If all of the "singers" went in the NSL3 it would still improve things. The main issue we have is that they're split between SSL1 and SSL3 and they can't hear each other. The Chelsea game was really interesting. If you were in SSL1 you thought they were quiet and we outsung them, if you were anywhere else in the ground the Chelsea fans were louder because the roof gets the noise going around the ground. You need a good few thousand, surrounded by several thousand more to get it going around the whole ground where the majority will join in with the main anthems. That doesn't happen if it's mirroring the SS really, because no one is going to be inspired to move the NS - the only way they would be is if it was a huge 2nd tier which provided something different.

I've never doubted their ambition on the stadium and collar site. It's going to look incredible when it is all completed. They'll have seen all the plans out there and worked with top architects to design it up, and they'll have thought about absolutely everything when it comes to the design and build. But I would be disappointed regardless of what else comes forward, if we didn't get large 2nd tier and it "just" mirrored the SS. For me that would be a real shame.
Yeah, good to have that kind of energy back in this thread.
Would love to see something truly special built in this area.

Obviously nowhere near like for like, but a double tier like this with the 2nd tier being the larger tier.

Forgot to add.

Got talking to 2 lads sat in a van who work for the mobile/crawler crane company.(didn take a picture of the van)

One of the lads told me the static crane won’t be going up until January. It was supposed to be November. Will keep an eye out for it either way.
Lol, a customer asked me why I burst out laughing then you bugger.

Where is this static crane going up, the CO-OP Live I presume for the roof?

Inside the arena. It’s going to lift the steel roof trusses into place. The crawler cranes will be aiding it. Apparently it’s going to be a monster of a job. Something we’ll worth watching I was told.

St Jakob Stadium, Basel.

The 32,000 capacity stadium incorporates a shopping mall and residential apartments.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Saudi's built a new stadium. St James Park might look impressive, but it's not big enough, and the corporate facilities are sh*te. Newcastle will miss out on matchday revenue if the team becomes successful.

But just like the Scousers the Geordies won't take kindly to season ticket and matchday ticket price rises.
Their team WILL be successful , they will be huge rivals in the coming years

Me also, I even remember the one on Lloyd Street ,it was someone's front room

Now I do feel old, as it was opposite my house.

There were two in houses. One on the corner of Wansford Street, facing Maine Road.

The one on Lloyd Street was owned by an old fella who fixed bikes in the other part of his house.

Considering the wider plans need planning permission I do hope they've moved away from copying the South Stand and will look at doing an expanded North Stand. My original thought was they'd mirror it because they've explored the feasibility of expanding the side stands already and that just works logistically and long-term. I'd been encouraged by some recent posts suggesting it will be an extended 2nd tier - just because it would enable a large number of blues to get in there and hopefully make some noise. But I appreciate, and have mentioned numerous times, a quick return on investment will be their priority and that means corporate/hospitality will have to be a major part of any plans.

We'll see!
The expansion of corporate/premium/Ultra is going to be increased in SS2 including a dedicated separate section for away fans.

SS1 will be standing and SS3 will be for a mix of current fans who don't want to move and newbies.

There's a lot of logic these plans and they should suit all parties.

The hotel is going to be a multi functional'destination'
with flexible conference facilities, casino, and rooms from 3* to 7* with amazing VIP packages for match, arena, chauffeur limousines for airport collection etc.

Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Las Vegas mixed with gasometres and Gorton.

Thought to myself there is no real way or demand that the 2nd tier could all be turned premium but in reality, there's maybe only 3,500 seats in it that aren't at least soft hospitality already.

Worried for my front row seat now ;(

Always thought it was too big. The Emirates 2nd tier is all hospitality but it's much smaller.

It's months behind mate. A pal of mine, his company were supposed to start this month, but already being told the arena won't be ready for this time next year.

You will be offered an identical seat / position in NS2
