Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

That's mental, could probably fit 4 maybe 5 cars there at a push, but no let's build a 20 story hotel on it.

That site has be prime for development for years. I'm just glad it's finally going to hide that pile of sh*t behind it on GAS.

Some posters are alluding the NS will mirror the SS. I'll be very disappointed if that is true and it happens. Not saying they are, but I hope they're wrong.

I know I'm a stuck record, but this is the club's last chance to create a proper home end, not another 3 tier SS. The club pretty much has a blank canvas to create an amazing stand with enough land at the back of it to incorporate bars, food outlets, a possible hotel, an Indoor fan area/village, etc linking it to Joe Mercer Way and the Coop Live Arena.

Like the CFA, I just hope the club has the vision and monies to create a stand that will blow us away and inspire us. To see another SS replicated would be an absolute travesty.

I had a look back over the planning application for the SS and NS expansion earlier. The supporting feasibility work involved to date has covered a variety of scenarios up to and including future expansion of the East and Colin Bell Stands. The corner designs for the South Stand have been engineered so that they can be removed to accommodate side stand expansion in the future with the options being either for complete redevelopment of the whole stand, or (most probably) re-design of the third tier.

Based on that I'd expect that they've not even considered doing anything else to the NS, particularly with the current cost of materials/construction in general. I agree with you wholeheartedly. It's a particular shame when you see the proposals at Everton for example, the Spurs stadium and some of the other projects the have been carried out. However, let's wait and see. I'm sure they know how fans feel. I'm very excited about what the ground might look like with the side stands expanded by the way - it would be one hell of a structure and probably up towards the 75-80k mark then. They'll be too high up for the cameras to spot the empty ones too!

Putting to one side the NS design, it's also vital the external proposals are nailed with this expansion. Again, Everton's new ground features some nice, covered areas and is forming a destination on the waterfront. The proposals for the Riverside stand at Fulham look stunning and similarly have GF bars/cafes/restaurants which can secure business on non-footballing days as well. Our ground isn't quite the same in location terms but there's still huge opportunity to create a destination there.

I honestly don't think cost is a factor. The CFA and the Coop Live Arena allude to that. The new and numerous corporate areas, and the new bar at the back of SSL1 are proof of that. Regardless of the cost of the NS expansion which will have increased by X, long-term City will make that money back. What's more important is the vision and desire by the club to create a unique and amazing NS inside and outside the stadium.

This ‘from the horses mouth’ though im sure most will know this info

North stand extension starts as soon as the arena is finished
It will mirror the south stand (no ‘yellow wall’)
It will incorporate hotels and eateries etc and the superstore.

City square and the superstore will go in its current guise but will be re-done.
Superstore within the stand, square pushed further back.

There will be eatery/bar links to the arena from the stadium

Probs a titanic post this but got told on saturday by a man who knows

Oh and city bought that merc garage and that will be hotel/housing
Have on very good authority that the land accommodating the Merc garage has been acquired by Kickair.

Please don't shoot the messenger but this info is, as far as I am aware through work contacts, cast iron 100%.

Due to the sensitive nature of this info, please don't pester for sources and the like, as I cannot accommodate but I must insist (due to the usual Bluemoon pile ons) I am not wumming.

Take it or leave it as you will, has absolutely no effect on my life whatsoever.

Just thought I'd share in good faith.

would be strange with them having a site in Cheetham Hill and a there being a flip out next to Asda.

Also no vehicle access on matchdays down Ashton New Road for hours, not ideal.
