Thanks for that chaps. :-)

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

...slight aside, can anyone recall a post re the possible upgrade of the Velodrome? I've a vauge feeling it was posted in this thread...and with the news about the Moutain Bike range at Philips Park (and our cycling team dominating the Olympics) plus the new BMX arena, a refurb/upgrade is surely a possibility? It does look a little tired inside....

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

About a month old (apologies if old news) but I don't recall reading this - bit of an update on the 'House of Sport' concept considered for the area around the Stadium:

TSE Consulting Appointed to Help Turn Manchester into Sports Hub

The Manchester Eastlands regeneration Framework Manchester is looking at the potential development of a new regional sports hub or house of sport concept and has appointed TSE Consulting to assist with the market research and concept development.

The City of Manchester has a vision to establish itself as the world-leading sport city with Eastlands at the centre of the sports city

Manchester City Council, New East Manchester Ltd and Manchester City Football Club partnered in 2010 to create a transformational plan for the Eastlands area around the Manchester City Stadium that would further drive forward the regeneration of East Manchester. Together they have developed the 'Eastlands Regeneration Framework' that highlights the importance of sporting, education and community facilities within the area and sets out aspirations relating to education, sport, recreation and employment...

Don't be surprised if UK Cycling come under political pressure to move their base to London at some point in the near future .

UK Cycling have already told them that Manchester is and will remain the home of the organisation.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

nevertheless I do think the previous poster's comment will come true in the next couple of years - otherwise that big shiny pringle will be a white elephant, can't have that now can we, especially as the the big scaffoldy lump next door is going that way

Never said they hadn't ; my point is that there is likely to be political pressure to move as part of securing an Olympics legacy. Things change as do heads of organisations. I don't think Manchester can be complacent about this based upon UK Cycling's earlier statement. The improvements such as purpose built offices should help though.
