Was thinking about this before the game today. Are we going to lower the playing surface to accommodate the additional 'pitch-side' seats?
nope - view will be sh*t in the new front three rows

you never know they could be pitch side seats like at basketball and charge people an absolute fortune to sit there.

definitely closer to the pitch - cut from the planning app docs, left side is current, right side is with 3 new rows

I wonder if that is done so that we will still have 60k for CL matches?

Can we put the media boys there instead of kicking myself and other blue brethren out of 326

The lowering of the pitch and the extra 3 rows will really help the atmosphere in my opinion. Make it much closer to the pitch. The gap at the moment is a bit too big.

Its fair to say that we all are more or less in agreement that the planning process is a walk-over for the club and that the prep' works will barely scratch the surface of what we will see go on at both ends in the closed season.

What we are now all champing at the bit to see is the details of the re-model.
Can't see why not, Peter Swales and Franny Lee seemed to have no problems organising the destruction of Maine Road

100% agree on Swales and if he had remained in charge another version of Platt Lane would have been built to replace the Kippax Cant agree at all about Franny imho the Kippax was a good stand and served its purpose Remember as well it was Franny who started the negotiations to move to CoMS

The new kippax was a good design. There were plans to re-build all of Maine rd in the same style which would have been a very impressive stadium, they were dropped when the CoMS negotiations got underway.

EASTLANDS EXPANSION SHOWS CITY SPREADING THEIR WINGS

City may be waiting until next summer before making major changes to the squad, but away from the pitch the club's rapid expansion is proving more agressive than ever before, with the stadium, training facilities and link with NYC FC all set for major changes over the next 12 months.

Building work on the Etihad Stadium will begin soon after the final ball of the season is kicked in May, with the South Stand expansion the first order of business ahead of the ground's increase in capacity to 61,000. As many as 4500 fans have already committed themselves by paying a £100 deposit for new season tickets.

An announcement will also be made over the next couple of months with regards to what will be built on the once-controversial Bradford Colliery site that sits adjacent to the stadium, with plans for a leisure and tourism destination of 'national significance' having been put forward by Manchester City Council. The plot, which was the intended site for the proposed 'Supercasino' in 2007, is said to be interesting a number of global powerhouses in the leisure and technology industries.

Arguably most significant for City, however, is this summer's opening of the Etihad Campus - the club's new state of the art training and academy facility.

The club are leaving Carrington at the end of the season and will move to the campus, which is being touted as one of the leading club facilities in world sport. The 6000 trees that will surround the plot have started to be moved and planted in the area after having been grown in a secret location in nearby south Cheshire. The club's Platt Lane complex at Fallowfield, where City's academy sides play, will continue to be used by the club.

Meanwhile, just under 3,500 miles away, plans for New York City FC, 80 per cent of which is owned by City, are accelerating.

The MLS side, who are also part-owned by the New York Yankees, are set to begin playing in the 2015 season and head coach Jason Kreis is set to spend a year in Manchester to become indoctrinated in the 'City way' at the Etihad Campus.

The club are also waiting on the swearing in of new New York mayor Bill de Blasio next month before plans for a new stadium, almost certainly set to be based in Queens, can be fully planned and given the go-ahead.

At risk of ridicule a mate of mine has told me that planning applications are expected early in the new year for a Casino and Hotel on the stadium site.
Just passing on what I've heard. His source is a town hall employee :-)

Looking good.
