Anyone else remember it?

Yes. That first surfaced back in 2010 on their website I believe.

Initially I thought it was the proposal for the new National Football Museum but that has not got a 3D cinema so it could well be for the Collar site.

The project in question:

Of course we are speculating, but Jack Rouse (Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi), football (Manchester City next door) and the project is listed as being in 'Manchester'. Link the dots I suppose...

3D Cinema on all sports, Football, Ferrari (Formula One), etc etc A bit like Universal Studios where most of the 3D stuff is inside and out of the weather. I can live with that as a theme. Obviously just guessing and speculating. :-)

Am in the middle of the new academy now and been inside the 7000 capacity stadium, its going to have some standing too, the bridge they are hoping to have in position by march, done a vid and got great pics inside the stadium...

Sounds good. Do you reckon you'll be able to put the video up somewhere we can all see it?

I've deleted my video as I was not supposed to have done one but unaware of this as not informed on the site induction.... Tbh cant blame them come to think of it!!!

I can see something like Apple world or something along those lines, cutting edge technology that people can come and experience and see and play with the future. I imagine a partner like Apple would be a huge draw from all over the world. Not sure how that would sit with LG being our sponsor though so probably no chance.

Would love to see a fantastic huge hotel with amazing leisure facilities, conference facilities, arena for concerts, small casino, shops etc.

I noticed floodlights being put in along the roof of the East Stand of the Mini Stadium on the way home tonight. step by step . . .

The last five years have been such a joy that I'm happy to say the I haven't got a clue about what I want on the collar site! In 2008 the Sheikh told us in his famous - but largely ignored by the press - open letter that he was going to transform City into a club which would establish itself as one of the world's top clubs and be able to sustain that position by the revenues it generates. He is now half way through the ten years he gave for the accomplishment of this ambition, which was a dream for most of us. The understated class with which the gigantic strides to its realisation have been taken shows me that I am better waiting for the surprise - when the announcement comes the details will dwarf any dreams I might have had, and they'll leave me wide eyed and open mouthed. They'll leave the rest of the football world furious and green with envy. They'll leave Platini with little to do but tear up FFPR and make his peace with City. The future is sky blue.

Somebody posted a, frankly, shocking video of Michael Owen reading (badly) an auto cue whilst flying a helicopter over Dubai the other day (I still haven't recovered).
However, from that I linked to a video on youtube about the building work in Dubai (link below if interested).

The sheer scale of projects and feats of engineering in that City is breathtaking...and Dubai is supposedly Abu Dhabi's slightly less well off neighbour.

I'd hope, therefore, for something that does does prick up the ears on a global scale in terms of scale and architecture.

Perhaps the link to Alan Turing (Alan Turing Way) might prompt one of the big tech/computer firms to get involved, but I'd expect a hotel and shopping/restaurant quarter at the very least.
Maybe the delay in announcing that Project Tomorrow is so both barrels are loaded over the next month or two...?

Dubai linkie (Discovery Channel style doc, but interesting all the same...):

As we are seemingly get closer to some sort of announcement about the Collar Site I was wondering what people would like to see there?

Personally I would like (and expect) to see an arena capable of hosting loads of different sports as well as concerts etc.

There will be room for one of the best footy museums where VR is used to recreate all manner of different moments of the clubs history.

And of course it would be great to see a cutting edge tech based theme park too, perhaps something like Marvel or Pixar type stuff.

An Arena G'Mex / Leeds Arena size , configurable 5/10,000, would be perfect. Not to much impact on Manchester Arena, kill the Apollo and allow that area of Manchester to be developed. Will support regular boxing and UFC which are growing sports, even Barry Hearns Darts Grand Prix, although darts is only a pub game NOT a sport, which is going from strength to strength. Manchester Basketball is set for the new complex at Belle Vue I believe.

With all the suggested links to Manchesters Plans to be a digital hub I think we have to be involved with a technology giant and a digital alternative reality theme park has opened in South Korea. But your VR museum is a great idea especially with all the green space work going on in the local area at the moment. Imagine being goggled up and it's you who scores after 93 minutes and 20 seconds., or equalises against Gillingham. That would become a drug...

Why would you want to get rid of the Apollo? It's by far the best music venue in Manchester, it serves as a middle ground for bands that are too big for the Academy but are too small for the Arena (which by the way is terrible as a music venue). Long live the Apollo!
