All the pitches are 11 a side size but all up to u13s play on 5 -9 a side pitches.

I know they can put cones out for them, but might have been nice to include some bespoke pitches for the young lads

And lose the adaptability to use a full size pitch? The whole complex has been designed to change over the years. That remit actually came from Arsene Wenger who bemoans the fact the their academy is unable to change now that it is complete. City wanted the flexibility to constantly adapt to new methods and technologies. There is nothing to say that a smaller pitch can't be marked up on larger one is there? But I reckon you may struggle to mark up a full size one on a 5 a side pitch.

Again there is always someone who is negative! Just trust in the club. They have never let us down and the people involved know a lot more than me and you on what is required to train young and elite footballers.
its amazing isn't it? we have had 5 years of football heaven,100 mill investment,here,100 mill there, but their is one thing ,that needs to get on board,a big chunk of our support,it either, cant or wont ,and it is so important ,that we do ,

But back on topic for the thread -

Mutterings about some Sky 'investment' in Manchester cycling are doing the rounds so it might be over at the Velodrome?

Any more on that? Is it doing the rounds on the twitformation superhighway?
Of course, that's where the Sky cycling team are based...and the velodrome could do with a bit of a 'reboot' perhaps...other that I'm stumped?

A mate, who is a crazy mental cyclist, was talking to me about it.

When I checked I was amazed that the velodrome and other stuff doesnt have a lead sponsor.

Seems they are throwing money away with that dont you?

Aye...it's a good point. It's a bit removed from the Etihad campus/Academy (at least at the moment) but can see it being integrated more over time (the BMX centre and Mountain Bike trail have helped). It's getting on a bit really (built some time before the Commonwealth games) so I noticed it looks a little tired inside and could probably do with a bit more investment now (especially given it's going to remain the home of the successful British Cycling team).

I had a ganders into the bmx centre over twelve month ago whilst waiting for a quick repair @ the evans shop, whilst in there a door opened and a troupe of kids come bowling out of a long corridoor, each of them (enuf riders/kids to consider them a team) had a mini version of the mercer jacket on top of thier biking attire. The coat never actually stated owt to do with MCFC but i seen to remember it still carried the badge....i'd forgot about it until reading this page.

Hate to say it but Spurs' looks swisher than the projected images of how ours will look....though now I look again they are quite similar!

Ours is on a different scale. End of.

Although Spurs have far exceeded our investment in facilities for the local community.........
